"There are some (such as chef, James Close of the Raby Hunt) who believe that Hedone is the finest restaurant in the country right now. Judging it from the lunch we had last weekend, it would be hard to disagree. Interestingly it's a restaurant very popular with the native Spanish people that I follow on twitter. The obsession that chef Mikael Jonsson apparently has in sourcing the very best products is something that very much appeals to them. Us too. We've never eaten better bread, or scallops. The scallop and truffle dish is seriously good. All the food is utterly sublime here, but I must also mention front of house. We've been to places in London where the service is efficient yet...read more"

There's a lot of praise for Mikael Jonsson who changed careers to become a self taught chef.

We walked in with much trepidation as we held tightly on to our walletsIt was going to be a big dent in our pockets, but we had to; we just had to.

Chef Mikael Jonsson is the shining star of this restaurant. Originally a food blogger, he taught himself to cook and now showcases his talents with style and sophistication. View menu

If someone asked you where your favourite restaurant of 2015 is, would you be able to come up with a quick answer? How would you judge it? For me, there are 2 tests. The first is where I would most like to spend my hard earned cash for a reliably great meal. The second is where I’ve taken most friends to eat this year. In my case, both answers are quick and easy – Hedone in Chiswick

I had heard rave reviews about Hedone from others, especially about the high quality of their ingredients. My friend and I both decided to go all out with our orders, and we were not disappointed. We started with the mushroom dish on crackers, which showcased the subtle flavor of the mushrooms without any distractions. The presentation and decor of the restaurant also complemented the overall theme of nature and wilderness.

the last time I sung in hedone was back in the april when my sister and her husband were in london to visit our high time. it is only possible to show that the time flies very quickly, as it was only 5 months ago, that my wife and I all stressed over all the details of our high time. our last meal in hedone was spiritually blossomed and as a free Friday afternoon I jumped on the chance to immerse a solo lunch here to taste more of mikaels chef art. it's all I could think after I finished talking to solicitor turned eating blogger uber chef mikael jonsson. I had just finished my multicourse, sensory overload tasting menu in hedone and was still about what was most likely one of the best meal times of my life. the self-trained jonsson had some quite interesting thoughts about the preparation of foods; and being taught himself seemed to be some preconcrete ideas of what food could be. that jonsson was produced was clear from the meal, but what he had to do with the processes was quite exaggerated.

I wasn't too excited about heading west on the tube, but the promise of a unique meal was enough to get me moving. Mikael Jonsson's restaurant had been creating a buzz since it opened, so I was eager to try his food. I was intrigued by his journey from food blogger to restaurateur, even though it's not a path I see myself taking. We changed our booking last minute from two to three people, and were offered seats at the bar right in front of the kitchen. I couldn't resist the opportunity to see the action up close. We went with the tasting menu (£65) instead of ordering a la carte, and I'm glad we did - it was...
