"Called on spec last evening in the hope that there may be a free table in the restaurant. It turned out that every table was free so I was a little unnerved as we sat down having had drinks in the library first. I'd opted for the 3 course menu at £45 whilst my wife had gone or 2 at ten pounds less. I had a venison tartare to start and my main was wagyu beef and cheek whilst my company went with the sea bream. We were delivered a beautifully presented complimentary fish course initially. It was the precursor of great things to come. I opted for cheese and biscuits to finish whilst my wife had the rhubarb canelloni which she said was sublime. The cheese was super too. Made even more so by the fact that our waiting staff positively encouraged me to try more. It is a constant disappointment to me when either the cheese is removed from the fixed price menu or the staff get sniffy if you require more than three little pieces. The hide restaurant was generous to a fault in this regard. Please do try the old king Cole. I know it looks like black pudding but its hella good! Service was superb and the food was faultless. We had a glass of wine with our meals and coffee and bon buns back in the library to finish. A beautiful house set in charming gardens. My only hope is that the sums are stacking up. There is no justice when a restaurant this good is deserted on a Thursday evening. Fixed price dining of this quality deserves support. I heartily recommend you to visit and urge you to support it."

We ate here during our stay on my birthday. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service is first class. The food is simply delicious.

We have just spent the most pleasant afternoon in the Hockney library Tickton Grange. The afternoon tea was the very best I have ever had and the staff were restrained but always there for you. Absolutely loved it.

We have been dining at Tickton Grange for many years, almost always for a special occasion. The food and service has almost always been very good. However our latest meal was outstanding in every way. Congratulations to the Head Chef/Chefs.

Food was beautifully presented and locally sourced excellent quality for special occasion (wedding anniversary dinner). Also attended a function with buffet food which was also delicious and presented with attention to detail not mass catering style.

Please see my recent review for the Tickton Grange hotel, which includes the Hide restaurant. The tasting menus, consisting of 7 courses which include 2 desserts, are a wonderful experience. Beautifully presented, and packed with flavour, each course was a delight to eat. We ate twice in the Hide restaurant, and can recommend.

We visited Hide on a Saturday night to celebrate my sons 21st. We wanted somewhere where the food was good, that felt special but that wasn’t too stuffy. We found exactly what we were looking for. Every course all three of us had was something different, exciting and delicious. There was not one element of the food that let it down. Taste and presentation are fantastic. Service by two young staff was efficient, warm and attentive but never obtrusive. Restaurant was quite busy but people should be queuing outside. We will be trying the Sunday lunch here soon and taking visitors to the area.

It was our first visit since January, therefore the experience was very different. The covid protocols are excellent but need the guests to follow them. The menu is now a 7 course tasting menu, with two desserts. My favourite courses were the pulled pork with langoustine and the first dessert of a mousse and apple sorbet. The courses are served to all of the diners at the same time and the staff managed this very well, leaving an appropriate gap between courses. Indeed the staff had to deal with some unappreciative guests on the night. This they did as discreetly as possible and then apologized to us.

The food was lovely, scallops perfectly cooked and piping hot followed by meltingly tender beef. I finished my meal with a selection of cheeses from a very interesting cheese board. The other half enjoyed his pearsnip pudding it's a secret). The interior has had a recentish update, cosy understated country house vibe with nods to Hockney who lived and painted locally for a time.Service was attentive without being overbearing and the young staff team were thoroughly engaged in the process. Our waitress was relaxed and friendly and clearly a people person. Our taxi let us down at the end of the night and as another wasn't available for around an hour the lovely owner Paul really bailed us out b...

To celebrate my 70th birthday I hosted an afternoon tea one week, and a Sunday lunch the following week in the Broadley room. The venue, food and service were excellent. The interior of the hotel is beautiful and relaxing. We had the afternoon tea in the residents lounge which is very comfortable, and the kitchen was able to cater for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. The tea was delicious. For the Sunday lunch we hired the Broadley room which really suited our party of 10, The room is very stylish and the oval table meant that we could all speak to each other easily. Once again they were able to cater for special dietary needs, and the food was excellent. The service on both occasions was...

"Visited today with my wife and month old daughter whilst we are on holiday in the area. We didn’t have a booking but this wasn’t a problem, the staff were friendly throughout and accommodating about lack of booking. We asked for a children’s menu...(website says they have one) but we were advised it’s was the basket meals menu which they advertise as selling to guests sat outside, they did also mention they could make a smaller portion of something from the adult menu. The basket meals menu is mainly fried food and chips, the kind you might share with friends over drinks, I wouldn’t call it a children’s menu. To me a children’s meal should at least come with some option of veg/salad/beans and ideally not be fried, plus the chips that arrived with her chicken bites were salted, not great for little ones. We didn’t make a fuss as for one meal as a treat we weren’t unduly worried but it would put me off going back with children. They also charged the full basket meal price so no reduction for children. Our meals, fried garlic mushrooms, salt and pepper chicken goujons to start then a beef burger and chicken burger as mains, arrived promptly and were generous portions. The food was fine, nothing spectacular just average pub food. The main issue on our visit and the thing that made the whole meal much more stressful and unenjoyable was the flies, we were sat in what they called the restaurant area and our whole meal start to finish was disrupted by or flies continuously buzzing round us, trying to land on our food and land on us, not fun. I accept that or flies can be around when doors or windows are open and it’s hard to stop them coming when food is around but or round us and more to be seen in the room seems too many to me, it really put us off especially when they were landing on our daughter. At the point of eating the meal we didn’t raise the issue as we couldn’t see that anything could be done about it and I’m sure the staff are not a fan of the flies either. I did raise the issue whilst paying and was told they knew about the problem and were doing their best to solve it, sadly for us it would stop me wanting to go again. All in all not a great experience and the food whilst nice enough wasn’t good enough to overcome the issue of the flies and the lack of a proper children’s menu."
