"I’ve visited Issho many times before and it’s always somewhere I take friends who are visiting from out of town. We have always really enjoyed the food and ambience there. It was a special occasion tonight so my fiancé and I attended just the two of us. Being tapas style dining we are used to them bringing things out as and when it’s ready- but the wait time between all the dishes was so so so long and it was literally one dish coming at a time so we never ate a single one together. We waited a while for all the food and our drinks came even after the food did. I’m also 9 months pregnant at the moment and asked for some water while we waited which never came- we had to ask again for it. This happened with one or two things we had asked for for the table as well. I was still hungry after everything we had ordered had come as by this point we had been seated 2 hours and the food (just 3 small tapas dishes) had all been so spaced out I didn’t feel like I’d really eaten, we decided to stick at it and try and order some more and a dessert atleast- but honestly so long went by without a single person paying attention to our table or even seeing us try to make eye contact that we decided to just go. Even asking for the bill took forever and it honestly seemed like an inconvenience to the server that we needed service/help. Over 2 hours and £100 later for a few small dishes and mocktails. Just a really disappointing experience from a restaurant I have recommended to so many people in the past. The food is always wonderful but it’s hard to enjoy with service so poor like that. I’m never one to complain either, I’ve worked in restaurants myself and always have empathy and understanding during busy periods, but it was very very poor tonight."

Service was patchy, waitress went home. 2 plates didn't get made or served as the cook had left. This was my birthday meal and we had to keep asking for wine etc and the service was very slow. They then rushed us as they were closing the restaurant. if the service had not been slow there wouldn't have been a problem. Expensive particularly when service was terrible In summary the food is great, when it comes, unfortunately the service was terrible. The staff numbers are too low for the covers they take on; when I spoke to the manager(s) they admitted there were not enough servers well that's easy: don't over book! We opted for the Emperor set menu with wine flight; £220 12.5% service. On most occasions our wine only came after we had eaten the associated courses. Despite asking them to serve wine earlier.
