"We went there last night and I had the schnitzel and my husband a burger. The place was busy but mainly with people drinking rather than dining. My schnitzel was inedible as it was so hard and dry but also vert oily. I think it had been pre cooked and then deep fried to heat it up. Leather would be a similar look and texture. My husbands burger was above average and there were people eating bagels. The service was good and the prices reasonable. It was a shame that there was no acknowledgement of how bad my meal was."

Staff was good and spoke English. We ordered the bagel burgers which were really nice. There was a good selection of beers.

Amazing server....he handled just about all of the customers and did it happily. Friendly and helpful. He deserves five stars. Vegetarian burger was one of the best I've ever had. Delicious fries. Meat burger was good as well as was the beer. The only negative was that the restaurant felt a little gritty and could use a good cleaning...this could be the desired look of the establishment. We ate indoors.

With a funky, sort of gastro-pub decor this bar, coffee shop, eating place is located not far from Rue de la Republique the main shopping drag of central Lyon. The place is pleasant and unpretentious and offers a wide selection of German drinks, and also pub fare. They also operate as a coffee shop and it is a great place to have a drink or coffee in the middle of the day. It is most definitely a meeting point for locals.

German themed cafe/bar/eatery. Laid back, excellent selection of beers, well worth the detour for the Burgers and Bagels. We have been to Kaffee Berlin many times and it is the same fine experience every time. Last time we went was on the Saturday of fete des lumieres, possibly the worst possible time to go downtown. The staff was friendly and efficient, got us a table, took the order and brought us the same satisfying beer and burgers, as always. What more can I say?

"My wife and I dined here on a Saturday night (having made a reservation several days in advance), and it was one of the best dining experiences we have had in France in a long time. We reserved for the early seating, showed up on time, and were among the first customers there. We had a small table near the door. The disadvantage is that we were occasionally wafted by a cold draft from the front door. The bigger advantage was that we were sitting near the restaurant's beautiful, precision, hand-operated meat slicer. The specialty starter is beef that has been cured for seven months with seven spices. It is sliced paper thin (and that is no exaggeration) and served heaped on a plate. Heavenly. My wife and I ordered only one of these plates and it was more than ample for the two of us.That was followed by our starters. I ordered the minestrone marocain légèrement épicé comme à Tanger (Moroccan minestrone, lightly spiced as in Tangiers), and my wife the rillettes de crabe aux petits légumes et Granny Smith (shredded crab with little vegetables and pieces of Granny Smith apple). Both were delicious. For our main dishes I had a pavé de cerf (deer steak), which was ample and perfectly cooked. My wife had fish, also cooked to perfection. I don't recall the wine we ordered, but the choice was from wines that were at their peak (not just wines one or two years old), yet the prices were reasonable. One remark about the decore: it manages to be a bit traditional and modern at the same time, with reproductions of paintings by Modigliani and various early 20th-century (mainly French) artists adorning the wall.Overall, a restaurant worth going out of your way for."
