"The Kingfisher is a family friend pub offering good value for meals. We visit on a weekly basis as form Monday to Friday daytime you can select classic pub grub of a 2 meals for £10 ideally suiting senior clientele. Portion size is ideal for the pensioner appetite. Fish and chips, scampi, curry and pies are available. For a little more there is a good selection of salads, burgers and delicious grills available. The bar staff are friendly and obliging (our favourites is Pam) who welcome you and remember your drinks which are served with a smile. It’s not fine dining but for a midweek treat it’s ideal without breaking the bank! It can be a little noisy during school holidays as it has a lovely children’s area and an ideal children’s menu. For sunny days there is a lovely sitting area outside with the canal running by. A great cup of coffee and desserts to die for along with a good wine cellar and mocktails and cocktails available. Special themed events take place seasonally. Sunday’s offer a could choice or roasts with a 2 for £12 tempter."

Always excellent service, good quality food at a reasonable price, in a beautiful setting... I ordered tapas style dishes so we could nibble and chat

Those carrots say it all, garlic bread tasted like vinegar. Waited near enough an hour for the worst food I can say I've had the displeasure of tasting.

Waited ages for food, staff rude and no clear direction by way of managerial skills, I strongly suggest marstons area manager does what he's paid to do and your health and safety leaves a lot to be desired by way of food being handled by persons wearing copious amounts of make up and false nails, absolutely shocking View menu

A very friendly pub in close proximity to the Dovestones reservoir.I decided to have a steak from the menu and duly paid at the bar. Shortly after returning to my seat, the member of staff came to inform me that the steak I ordered wasn’t available . I chose something else which was slightly cheaper, to which the barmaid told me that they would refund the difference back to me.The food was very nice and the atmosphere very relaxing. When I finished I left the pub (totally forgetting to collect the money for my meal). As I say in my car, I noticed another member of staff running out to me to give me the money I was owed.I would certainly return next time I am in the area. Thank you for your ho...

We frequent this restaurant quite often, and this week we have been twice. We enjoy the specials they offer, such as the knockout burger on Thursdays. My partner had a pizza on Wednesday that looked delicious, but I opted for the chorizo and pork stack. I noticed that my meal was missing the onion rings, but I was too shy to mention it. Maybe the staff will see this review and remember next time! We are looking forward to trying the 2 for £12 deal on Sundays and the roast dinner burgers. The staff are always friendly and we have a good time chatting with them. We should start exploring different menu options, like the super salads. My sister-in-law had one today and it looked fantastic. Unfo...

"Our second visit was even better than our first and that was great! My wife and I visited the Puckersley with friends who live close by. It was our second visit and we remembered that the food was good. A new menu had been introduced just that evening (Friday the 13th) and I noticed a selection of “Rice Bowls” from which I chose the King Prawn option. I can’t fully remember the menu description but it was something like “Salt and Pepper Spicy King Prawns Rice Bowl” MY GOODNESS! I have eaten in some fancy places and never have I been more surprised and delighted by a dish than I was that night. It was served beautifully, the prawns were lightly battered like Tempura prawns they were on a bed of egg fried rice surrounded by a lovely sauce containing goodness knows how many different chilli peppers and beautifully diced vegetables. It was even more enhanced by some greenery (sorry, i forgot what it was) which reminded me of a lightly fried rocket which just melted in your mouth. The dish is a TRIUMPH and must not be missed. I look forward to trying the other versions of this dish on our next visit and we will certainly visit again. Our friends ordered steaks which arrived cooked exactly as they requested which is unusual in itself but not, our friends say, at the Puckersley! My wife could only look enviously at my bowl but fortunately reported that her Scampi was excellent too. The waiting staff (All girls as it happened) were very happy, smiling and extremely efficient too. DO NOT MISS THIS PUB, IT IS A GEM."
