"My wife found this when looking for a place for us to spend our wedding anniversary. It sounded good on paper. It was a long and tedious drive for us though and I wasn’t sure it was worth it. I was totally wrong! This place is superb and well worth any drive! The setting is great-it has its own beach and there is a small patio where you can sit and there is a heater there too if you need it. There’s a nice lawn in front of the hotel too where those with dogs took them for a walk. The rooms are all different and all well appointed with their own en suite. The costs of the rooms reflects the size of the room and not the facilities. If you are tall like me (6ft 2) I wouldn’t go for one of the rooms in the roof as the coomb ceiling is a pain. However the thing you go there for is the food and that is sublime! It is a set menu in the evening which reduces waste and helps control costs. You get 7 courses, all quite small , but at the end of the meal you are adequately fed but not full. We were there for 3 nights and had a different meal every night. All the dishes were superb but we had mushroom soup one night and it was the best soup I have ever tasted! In fact it was one of the best foods I have ever tasted! The breakfast is very good indeed and you can order whatever you like from the menu which is very comprehensive. I found that set me up for the whole day and I didn’t need a lunch. I must also mention the wine. The wine list is very comprehensive with some difficult to come by wines in it too like Chateau Musar. On 2 nights we went with the wine pairing list which I thought was very good value, especially the cheaper of the 2 lists we had every night. The hotel is a good centre for seeing things in the local area and , despite going in November we found things to occupy ourselves for the 3 days we were there. They have various themed weekends too which sound brilliant. But the hotel is so good it is worth going to anytime. We will certainly be back."

We had lunch to celebrated my son's 21st Birthday on June the 23rd at Knockinaam Lodge with his Grandparents, lovely welcome greeting at door. Our experience then began, food was delectable, service exceptional, ambience superb, beautiful grounds. We will be returning in August for dinner. Thank you!

Taking tea here provided a fascinating lead into the life of one of the great British submarine commanders of WW2. The memory of his patrols commanding HMS Upholder in the Mediterranean is honoured in some detail. Thanks to the lady of the house for making me welcome; I would certainly return to stay here.

A beautiful setting and very peaceful. The food is excellent and the dining room not too large. Sadly on the day we went the staff were trying to serve the Barbeque area and the dining room which meant that the service was not what it should have been. We will be back and hopefully the service will be as it used to be.

This was a superb country house experience Churchill and Roosevelt met to discuss the D Day landings and the place is steeped in history. The grounds are stunning with a large lawn running fish towards the sea. We sat in one of the lounges and had some lovely afternoon sustenance of sandwiches and soup after a long walk to the lodge.

We were gifted a voucher as a wedding gift earlier in the year and enjoyed this a few days ago. The location of Knockinaam is stunning and we loved their small private beach. The food was outstanding, worthy of all its accolades!! Service from the staff was great and we thought Nicola was fabulous. Thank you all, we are already planning our return stay!

We visited this hotel today for bar lunch .. we were shown into a front room that was freezing , there was a fire set but never got lit . After 50 minutes the lunch arrived .. the bread on sandwiches were stale , the tea was stewed , the waitress was surly .. all in all a poor effort .. a hotel that needs to work on customer service , On leaving the staff sniggered at us for accepting a poor quality offering

We visited Knockinaam on recommendation for our anniversary lunch. Despite dismal weather the location is stunning, if a little difficult to find due to lack of signs and overgrown vegetation in the way of existing signs. Ample parking but again poor signage at the main entrance door which was closed and looked like all the other doors on the property. Once inside, the service was excellent, with friendly helpful staff. We had a delicious lunch from a set menu, and a lovely bottle of wine from their extensive list. However, the toilet facilities, or lack of them, really let this place down. For a Michelin rated restaurant and hotel, there were only two toilets, one on the ground floor and on...

"For some reason I can not reply to your answer. Sadly you are absolutely wrong in everything you have stated, I find your tactic of attacking people who give less than 5 star reviews. I am not going to try to defend myself, as I stand by everything I said. I have made an appointment to see a solicitor about your untruthful comments. I would really of liked to put a good review up, however, I would not recommend this hovel to my worst enemy. Firstly the room was so small, and tatty, extremely dated with an alarm clock, which surely has been taken from a chalet from Pontins in the 1970s, that even the amazing view could not compensate. There was dog meat/food on the carpet, and I assume ash. When I went to look for someone to let them know, there was no one about. The bathroom was not fit for purpose, one as it was a converted cupboard, and the notice in the room explaining that the steam from the shower which was cracked set off the sensitive smoke alarm, so you could not even have a shower. Then when we went for breakfast, after waiting for 40 minutes for a breakfast which was a 1 sausage, a piece of streaky bacon, uncooked tomatoes and mushrooms, haggis, b pudding and beans. When I went to complain about this on the way out, I had the pleasure of speaking to someone called Donna, who was at best obnoxious, and as unhelpful as it was someone else 's fault, I quote I don 't clean the rooms, I don 't cook the breakfast . I would rather sleep in a tent than give money to this place, please look elsewhere, unless you want to feel as though you are being ripped off. In response to your reply I thankyou for it. I do not deny that I was irate, and if she cried, I feel terrible about that but I have also left things out, like the denial of the previous evenings attempt with the same lady about the state of the room, however I stand by everything I said, As you are true to form, as it never ever seems to be your fault, if you look at the previous low reviews, it is always someone else 's fault. Oh by the way breakfast took 40 minutes, and as you were not there, maybe you can check CCTV and see that the uncooked food was left, as was the haggis, however the toast provided was superb. I applaud your defense of your staff, I truly do. Hopefully you can maybe if you get another less than favourable review, see that it is the same points over and over again, and try to address them points, just a thought. Thanks again for your reply below, and I stand by everything I said, and truly can 't be bothered dissecting your reply, one slight point, I have witnesses about the night before, so I take with a pinch of salt, your comments"
