"My wife and I were driving down from Otranto to Santa Maria di Leuca and were hoping to have lunch at a wine bar there that had been well reviewed on TA. Unfortunately it turned out to be closed. We were both tired, hot and grumpy and nothing else that we saw in town appealed to us. When we were researching possible places for lunch the day before we noticed this cafe also got great reviews. Therefore, even though it was another 10 minute further drive we decided to go for it... boy we glad we did: delicious Caprese salad with tuna, a tasty panini with local meat and cheese and a great local beer from Capo d'Otranto. Then came the best part: a trio of gelatos featuring chocolate, almond and fig and a third flavour I can't remember the name of but was just as yummy as the first two. As that apparently wasn't enough we also got a delicious chocolate and cream pasticiotti and a couple of Caffe Leccese. Wow! Marco the owner was so warm and hospitable, even though he didn't speak much English and our Italian is very limited to say the least. This for us was a reflection of what foreign travel is all about it can be a lot of hard work and aggravation but just when things seem to be going sideways you can have an amazing experience like this. "the menu offered some local dishes that were beautiful. the prices were reasonable. the total experience loses some points due to the average service and food quality and does not reach all the level of some other restaurants in the opposite mustel and mussel antipasti had only 3 muscheln and muscheln were small and somewhat dry."

"Having read the other reviews and looked at the website we were really looking forward to our visit. We went for Sunday lunch in June, when we arrived there were no other customers and we went for a wander around the garden, which is lovely. Then, unfortunately, a coach pulled up and unloaded about 50 customers. Of course the owner's attention was focused on this group and not our group of 4 plus toddler. First we were offered a table which was practically in the dark inside, as the coach party had taken over the terrace. When we asked to move the head waiter was visibly put out, fortunately the actual waiter was very friendly and accommodating and moved us to another table right away. The food was disappointing, I've eaten in a lot of Agriturismi and was looking forward to a great, genuine meal. This lunch was fine, not wonderful, not terrible. The antipasti were very average, plus, annoyingly, we noticed that other tables were getting a wider variety of dishes than us, very irritating. Another table of locals were also brought proper wine glasses instead of the tumblers everyone else had, I really dislike this selective treatment of clientele. The pasta was good, especially the vegetarian option, the fish dish less so. All in all I wouldn't rush back, it was certainly one of the most disappointing meals out of the holiday."
