"We want to this restaurant with a few friends as we wanted to experience a typical French restaurant. I think we achieved that, even down to dogs being allowed in the dining room out Yorkshire terrier would have lived it! This isn 't a problem...for me but may be for some people. The restaurant offers an English menu, but the translation was a little random, also the staff didn 't seem to understand the English menu. Fortunately we had a fluent French speaker in our party so this wasn 't a problem, and as we were the only English in the place I guess it isn 't a priority for them. We all had the set 'village ' menu for 25€. I had modules for a started which were tasty and a very large portion, followed by the scallop casserole. This was a bit of a let down, compared to the starter the portion was small and the scallops hard to find (bothe tiny and few and far between), the sauce was also rather salty for my taste. The food was well presented, and the baby tomato with the poppy seed hat was a conversation piece. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome, which we haven 't always found to be the case in French restaurants for the French. Overall we had a nice evening, let down sligty by some aspects of the food."

The Côte de Lumière serves a variety of seafood, meat and local dishes. All dishes commendable. Thierry, the cook, is quite creative when it comes to pages and desserts.

We were staying nearby and so only had take way Moules and Frites. Three portions for the three of us. Larges portions, great Moules and very good value for money. Restaurant looked good, but well have to save that for our next visit.

I have been going here for years with my family as my grandparents have a house in la terriere I have never had a bad meal and neither have any of my family the menu doesn't change much but it is always a nice meal....The only thing I would say is last year I had the canard (duck which I have had before and they have changed it slightly and they have taken away the sauce that used to be on it... Please bring back the sauce from Mr Raymonds granddaughter :

6 family members had a great night in this little gem part of the joy being that almost nothing has changed in the 20 years since we last ate there . The set meals offer limited choice but plenty to satisfy us indeed...the buffet can almost give you a diy fruit de mer and the moules maison is huge and very tasty the desert choice is very good for set menus. Every table on a weds night was full so make sure you book if it is july or august and the bill 25 euro per head incuding house wine !

We visited this restaurant for a meal with 3 other couples. We chose all from the table de hôte menu. We had a variety of appetizers, Moule, mixed cold plate, goat cheese. The most important courses were the entrecôte Steak. These were big portions, my steak would have fed a family for Sunday dinner! The steaks were cooked a little on the rare side for my taste, so I suggest to ask for your steak better than you in England. The staff was helpful and tried some English to supplement the French that our party was new. Above all we had a nice evening with some nice wine, and while this is not a cheap night, it was reasonable price for the meal we enjoyed.

Had a really lovely evening at La Cote de Lumiere. Service was very good and the food was great. You can either order individual dishes or there are three different priced set menus. I ordered from the 25 euro menu and had Languistine and scallops...with salad for starter followed by Cunard for main. The Cunard was served with green beans and noisette potato with a lovely sauce over it. For pudding i was torn between the creme brulee or the chocolate cake. I decided on the chocolate cake though and so glad i did as it was so nice. It was served with cream and some custard thinly coating the plate with chocolate sauce decoration all done very pretty. A lovely evening and for four of us eating...

Located a small village a few miles outside the hustle and bustle of La Tranche, this is a welcome change from the tourist coast food. It is a bit back in time and the better for them; the decor is...traditional sea, the food is traditional no-nonsense French with emphasis on seafood (but good steaks are available) and the service is excellent freendly. We stayed at a short break in the area and visited the restaurant once, we were back soon for more! There are very good value set menus for about 20 euros or less, one offers a self-help buffet (mainly seafood) as an appetizer, another offers fabulous mouth the most generous served! Fish main courses were simple and well prepared, puddings tr...
