"After walking round Poitiers for at least an hour we settled on this restaurant in a square. 15 minute wait to order wine. A carafe was a little too much for the waiter to comprehend so a little pointing later we ordered our drinks. A few minutes later the lady in charge took our order with a smile. After a 25 minute wait, no wine. A little prompt and it came in another five minutes. Our food arrived - a tuna steak with a strange grilled jacket potato and tiny salad, and a medium rare steak which was blackened in only the way the french think you English might want your medium rare steak and chunky chips which looking at everyone else's were the dregs reserved for us. The tuna was good, and the steak despite its chargrilled appearance was also very good. Everyone else was given bread, not us, offered desert, not us. Shame as it was my birthday. At least the food was sort of good."
