"We first discovered this restaurant several years ago, as we regularly come to Trier from Luxembourg on day trips. At first it was great, we loved it. Very efficient and friendly Italian staff both waiting staff and pizza makers, so it appeared genuine, and the...food was good, with some original dishes. However, we had not been back for a long time, maybe a year or more, and we have found that it has really gone downhill. Yesterday we were in Trier and decided to go there for some pizza, which we hadn’t eaten for a long time. The pizzas there are enormous and, having eaten too much over Christmas, for once we only felt like a pizza to share which many regular customers do. The restaurant appeared to be rather full, even though it was a Thursday we normally go on Saturdays. A young man accompanied us to a table for two and gave us a menu. Most people around us seemed to be already eating. Right in front of us was a waiter’s workstation, with a computer screen. There were two waitresses who seemed to walk up and down and look at the computer screen a lot, but rarely did we see them with plates in their hands. They totally ignored us. For a full minutes I kept trying to catch their eye, but they never even looked in our direction. After frustrating minutes my husband wanted to walk out, but I begged him to be patient....wrong advice!, my husband saw the young man walk by and called him. We asked to order, saying that we had been totally ignored by the other waiting staff and we would simply like to order. My German is not very good and I am out of practice, so I spoke English, as I was too irritated to struggle with finding the right word on top of everything else I also speak French and Italian, but I realised this man was not Italian, so thought English would be my best bet. I ordered the pizzas by name pizza names are in Italian and said we would like half a pizza each, like our neighbours indicating the nextdoor table, very close to ours, to make myself understood. Both the couples at the two tables next to us the tables are extremely close together were eating halfpizzas each, so we knew it was perfectly normal. We also ordered two local Bitburg beers. We waited....and waited....and waited.....with nothing at all to drink, in a very hot and busy restaurant and with nobody ever even glancing our way. After another minutes my husband noticed two beers sitting on the bar top in the other room. Presumably they were ours in fact, they were, but no waiters ever thought to bring them to us. After minutes he got up and went to ask the bar staff if we could have our drinks. Reply: “the restaurant is very busy, there are no waiters to bring it to you”. So we waited another five minutes, and my husband could see them regularly topping up the glasses with beer on the counter, so that they had foam and looked freshly poured. Hmmm.... We eventually got our drinks after we had been sitting there for around minutes disgraceful! But the pizzas still did not arrive and we continued to be ignored by the unprofessional, untrained nonItalian they seem to have all left waiting staff. By then we were feeling angry and hungry...i.e. HANGRY. The pizzas eventually came about an hour since we had arrived, but they brought us two huge pizzas instead of the two halves we had requested I think there was possibly a language problem, as I am not sure whether the waiter understood English.... By then we were extremely irritated, also because it was not a pleasant environment to be in, with the tables much too close together, the air too hot, impossible to get attention, etc. So we simply asked for a box to take home the other half of our pizzas which we didn’t want or need, but we just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. We then attempted to eat our pizza, but discovered it was horrible, not what we remembered at all. It was cold and soggy probably been sitting on the counter for a long time, like the beers, the mozzarella was like rubber and the pizza base was not even cooked properly. After all that time!!! My husband is Italian and he certainly knows his pizza that was absolutely NOT a good pizza. And the service was absolutely atrocious. Bring back the friendly Italians, please! And train your waiting staff properly! 'The restaurant is busy' is no excuse, as it is always busy. You just need to get the right staff, in the right numbers, and train them properly. After all that, we simply didn’t have the energy to complain any more and just ate a few mouthfuls of the cold, soggy pizza, left half of it on the table, asked for the bill, paid and left. A horrible, unpleasant experience, which we will not be repeating again. Even our neighbours, at the table next to us, before leaving gave us sympathetic smiles when they saw how long we had had to wait to order and to receive our drinks, and how annoyed we were. It seemed to us that the two ‘waitresses’ were dealing with the tables around us asking them if they wanted coffees, etc. but for some reason were totally ignoring us! It was impossible even to catch their eye! Please get some professional staff who know how to serve customers in a restaurant, as this is really not good enough. We are VERY annoyed that we had to spend all that money just to be ignored, eat a few mouthfuls of bad, cold pizza, and get very stressed, when we had gone to Trier to relax and have a pleasant time before going back to work after the Xmas break. That is no way to treat customers"

This is our favorite pizza joint! We go almost weekly and get pizza and wine. If you are looking for delicious pizza and a great atmosphere this is the place! They even have a small desk with a dough for kids to play with

Service at L’Osteria is on the slow side, but, once you receive it, the nosh is well worth the wait. My wife and I shared a Caprese salad and a large mushroom pizza. Both were very good. We sat outside — the evening air was...warm enough — because it was very noisy inside

It took some time finding this restaurant used the Ibis hotel entrance on the back, but it was worth it. Very popular restaurant, had to wait outside before we got seats group of Had some pizzas as appetizer on the terras. Great atmosphere inside...and a waitress with some Italian spirit do not now her nationality, but it matched well with our group. Food was delicious, excellent privequality balance

I read these reviews and chose this place over all other Italian restaurants in central Trier. So satisfying! Seated quickly and with lovely welcome despite a busy night... served very quickly also, perfect place to go if you are hungry! Large and delicious portions. Wonderful...salad for starter, and a perfect spaghetti carbonara. Loved it! The pizzas at the table next to us looked amazing. Too much for one person

We had the most awful experience at this restaurant. To start, we ordered a bottle of wine which tasted like sht, super super sweet and when we told the Waiters they asked us what we wanted instead,on the house afterwards we had to pay for...the wine ánd the extra drinks We ordered anti pasta as a starter to share, this came after the first two dishes, which were all tasteless. The pizza had shrimps on them that looked like they Came straight from The freezer. The anti pasta was just a mix of things originated from Italy on a plate, the Taste however, was disgusting and absent. Furthermore the food was not tasteful at all and we paid euros, would NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant AT ALL

I visited twice on a mixed businessweekend away trip with my wife recently. The pizza was very good and massive one is enough for two really. The food was good, the venue is nicely decorated, it is in a central location. The one bad...point is that service is a bit haphazard. Hard to get waiters attention. Asking for dessert menu and noone coming back to take or ask whether i wanted to order. It was busy one of the nights so understandable, but on my second visit it was not and that was where noone came to ask did i want a dessert after waiting for some time in hope i gave up, eventually managed to catch an eye and motion for the bill and thus they lost a little bit of business that quiet ni...

All Corona safety measures are very well respected, not always the case in others restaurants... Staff is friendly and polite, really nothing to complain about ! Pizzas are indeed absolutely hugh and amazing, but also very affordable. Do not hesitate to share, because pizza...is really too much for person... You can have different half pizzas on plates, and you only pay the price of the most expensive one. offer written in small letters at the bottom of the menu. Prices are fair in my opinion, L'OSTERIA is certainly a big competition for others local restaurants. Location : very central and strategically placed, but kind of hidden too. Hence all valuable excellent Tripadvisors reviews : It w...
