"As a local living in Charlottenburg (West Berlin) I visit Minakami on a regular basis - and I just love it ! The food is much better than at Kuchi a couple of streets down, and more creative - and also cheaper. Apart from excellent sushi and inside-out roll dishes, the Minakami also serves hot specialties such as yakitori skwewers (my favourite: the shrimp and the quail) and more. The place is closed for lunch and sometimes seems to be a bit slow in the evening, but during their special Jazz nights (usually a Thursday or Friday), the Minakami is throbbing - this is when they feature a live jazz and (changing) while serving food. Tha host (Max) is just great, very nice and accommodating and knowledgeable when it comes to both food and wine. Prices are pretty low for the quality of food and drinks you get - a must when on Kantstrasse (the unofficial Asian neighbourhood of Berlin)."

Minakami definitely is one of the best sushi places in Berlin, if it's not the best. Highly recommended. High quality Sushi, and not really expensive.

Top spot for good quality sushi. They also have soft shell crab which is difficult to find in Berlin. Very well informed and friendly staff. A bit pricy but worth every cent.

Hi, I came from Switzerland to try Minakami's Sushi in Berlin because it was tested as best Sushi in Berlin on TV. And wow, they were not wrong! We took the plater on the picture and it was wort it's money! Amazing taste, great presentation and the Owner was very friendly. Would recomend this great place to anyone! View menu

We ordered the menu which was a great experience. The wine which was recommended (a pinot gris from Germany) was an excellent match with the food. The sushi we had was amazing and one of the best we ever had (could be compared to the sushi at Nobu restaurants). The open kitchen gives you a good insight in how the food is prepared and in the back a DJ has an extraordinary sound system (not too loud) with Jazzy-music. Perfect evening.

The location of the restaurant is not the best... But it is really worth going there! The restaurant is really modern, the service very profesional and the atmosphere very nice. The quality of the food is extraordinary. We had a wonderful sushis there and would definitely recommend this location to everyone keen on good quality sushis. The price however is a relatively high for Berlin, but fair in regard to the top-quality food served.

I went to Berlin to meet a friend and he brought me in this place in which he told me he had experienced a top class service. I have to admit he was right because is very difficult to meet such a deep but smooth attention to customer. Food is a good combination of eastern and european taste, I wouldn't say unforgettable but good. Music is a plus: not the usual background but a man in blood and flesh who manage a couple of record player and a bunch of vinyls... Cool to me... View menu

I really liked the idea of this restaurant to mix Japanese kitchen with high quality European ingredients in the style of an izakaya. And to say this, the food we had was delicious and the service was super friendly. But in the end, it was not really like an izakaya, it was a restaurant that also serves food which is typical for izakayas. And why do almost all Japanese restaurants have to serve sushi? Nevertheless, there is absolutely nothing to complain about from the standpoint that this is a restaurant. But if they translated their concept more consequently, it probably would become one of my favorite bars in Berlin ;)

We came in the afternoon and were the only customers. The interior itself looks modern and hip. After asking about the lack of music the waiter played some jazz on vinyl which was great. For the vegan among us, the waiter offered to try sushi which turned out to be excellent. The meat dish was good as well- meat portion small, yet light and big portion of salad on the side which was exactly what we wanted. The japanese cocktails were way too overpriced for what we got: We had the Japanese Old Fashioned(11€)- the whiskey taste was poor and Nihai(8€)- it was alright, a version of gin tonic. The service was thoughtful, forgot our water in the end though. All in all, it was okay. The food was good...
