"Visited here for lunch. The food is very good, the service on the other hand!! Two women where working here on a Saturday, mostly in the kitchen, one friendly and polite the other older lady rude. We waited 15 mins before our drinks order was taken then the older lady came over and sarcastically asked my husband if he was ‘ok’ he said he was,she then said they we’re not a fast food restaurant, I said I didn’t think they were, I’ve no idea why she was saying this to us, we had waited patiently at our table, yes we were thirsty as we’d had a long journey. As she walked away she called back to us ‘have you been waiting long’ I said ‘15 mins’ we should have just left then but the other friendlier lady was making lots of effort and had brought our drinks by now so we stayed. Like I said the food is good but the attitude of this other lady means we would not go back."

Really lovely staff and nice food, I would recommend this cafe for a snack and a hot or cold drink and cake

Lovely lunch and catchup with a friend. The ladies who work there are so friendly and welcoming. Cakes looked delicious and all so reasonably priced.

Took my partner’s daughter here after she had kindly shampooed my carpets for me. I had a panini and she had a toastie and we shared a pot of tea which gave us two mugs each. It was the usual good value but am looking forward to the opening of the new place at Worting House.

I have visited this restaurant several times for various meals such as lunch, coffee and cake, and curry nights. The food is consistently excellent and good value for money. It is also a fantastic place to bring children, as the play area kept my girls happily entertained. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant more frequently in the future.

I visited this restaurant with some friends earlier this week. It's a nice hidden gem, although they will be moving closer to town next year. The coffee wasn't the best, but the large jars of cookies more than made up for it. The prices were reasonable too. There is plenty of space, making it ideal for larger groups to gather. I would definitely return again.

We went for a 'cream tea '. £15 per head. For £30 we could have eaten at a lovely local pub and had a glass of wine. Save your petrol. The food was mediocre and very overpriced. Mediocre coffee. Stale scones. Sandwiches that were pretty tasteless. Iceland style party food and very limited choice. Very overpriced. Craft/Vintage shop was awful. Again very overpriced items and nothing special here. Very disappointed and would never go back.

Popped in for lunch after a dog walk...love that they are dog friendly. Ordered Stilton and broccoli soup which was lovely. However, a REALLY long wait for both drinks and food! Would have been good if they had forewarned us we would be waiting, and then we could have decided whether to stay or not. Didn’t bother complaining because the people behind us who did complain just got excuses (busy/lots of people etc) and no real apology. Shame...

We had a lovely and relaxing brunch at the newly renovated Worting House. The new setting is stunning, with spring bulbs blooming in the grounds. The café is tastefully decorated and we received excellent service from our friendly young waitresses. The brunch menu offers many interesting options. We tried the poached egg and avocado on sourdough, as well as the bacon and egg French toast, both of which were delicious. We can't wait to try more items on the menu during our next visit.

Last minute decision saw us make the most of the sunshine this February and we ended up here for a late lunch. Despite being near to closing time my partner and I enjoyed a lovely lunch. He had chilli and I had the sharing platter for one. Service always comes with a smile and a personal word and Athens variety of food is excellent. Although we have never attended any of the evening events there is a wide variety of activities and there is also a lovely gift shop. Well worth a visit.

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
