"The food here is better than you'd expect. There's a decent menu and it's really good value for money with hearty portion sizes. However, it's a real local's local and if you aren't a regular, everyone will know. The staff and locals are friendly enough...but everyone else around you will know each other. It's the kind of place that everyone stops and looks as you walk in the door! Also, make sure you phone ahead to check they are doing food there are sometimes parties/live music/BBQs for the locals (usually bank holiday weekends) and on those days the kitchen is rather inconveniently closed. It also gets busy and there's often very little hope of finding a space in the car park at weekends so you'll be parking on the road. It's also a popular lunchtime stop for the recycling/trash collectors. The landlords are a friendly couple who have been there a good few years now. But it's also worth noting that they don't like splitting bills for the convenience of diners. On one occasion the owner said he couldn't take separate card payments and instructed the diners (some of which had young babies in their arms) to go outside to the cashpoint."

Popped in last minute yesterday, very happy with food and service. Sunday Riadt discontinued until Autumn, but good selection of Bar Meals at very reasonable prices. My Scampi, Chips and Peas was first class and piping hot, Scampi cooked to perfection. Others had Steak, they...too were very happy with it. 5 stars again for Food and pleasant staff

I myself and my family have used this pub regularly since pete took over. it is always clean and tidy, served good beer and has a large selection of foods available. yes, it can be a bit manic during the busy times, but that. everything adds to the atmosphere of the place. always like to visit as it is close to where I live and it has plenty of parking available.

Have recently moved into the area so this pub is very much my local. It's very much what you would expect from a local boozer, local people and very friendly staff. It's not a gourmet restaurant but the food available here is fantastic for the...price, definitely great value for money. If you live close by, it's a must as their are very few local pubs that offer what this establishment does. If you're passing through then a great place to eat and experience that good old fashioned local pub atmosphere. View menu

I wanted to give this place another chance to try out their new menu. huge sign outside had said a new menu on Wednesday. we tried the new menu on Saturday at 18 o'clock. I would say that was pretty much best time for those who want to eat! but no luck. as politely asked if they make food (as we cannot see that someone else eat), the answer was an abrupt no apology, no explanation, nothing but no. how can they serve a new menu on a day then not it only three days later? the big sign outside on Weston way promotes this new menu. but this pub seems to eat when it feels like it. to save themselves any disappointment, I would get them back the phone in advance to check if they were serving. My first visit at the plough. Warm and cosy as you walk in. The pub obviously has a loyal customer base (customers seem to know each other and the names of the staff). Big menu with lots of options. I ordered one of the beef...burgers which came with bacon and bbq sauce. The beef itself was juicy, I don't think the bbq sauce works with the burger but that's just my personal opinion (and I don't really like bbq sauce anyway). The chips were good- chunky and crispy. For dessert I ordered an apple pear crumble which was smashing! Probably one of the best pub desserts I've ever had. The plough is inexpensive, staff are brilliant, food is delicious. Definitely will return and I recommend this pub...

"Went for an impromptu meal with her indoors, as this was a local pub we've not been in for a long time we thought will pop in. Greeted by an over enthusiastic bar person who was dragging out the empties from the night before, ordered a couple of drinks and we sat down with the menu's, after perusing the menu we were ready to order, at the same time we were ready a regular couple walked in and sat at there regular table and oredered there regular meal, but the regular gentleman actually wanted an extra sausage with his sausage and chips, well! The kerfuffle this caused was astronomical, this conversation went on for Many many minutes, my wife and I was desperately trying to catch her attention to have another drink, eventually my wife went to the bar and waited, we got served eventually. Then our food came out of the kitchen, we went for the light bites as we were in a snacky mood, Chicken strips Mozzarella bites Chips with curry sauce and nachos. We never got the nachos as there was no guacamole BTW Chips came out which were actually fries, covered in this sauce, gross, then we had 3 chicken strips with no garnish £4.95 £1.63 each Then 4 mozzarella bites came out, no, nothing else just 4 mozzarella bites, £4.95 £1.24 each. So if you want have your pants pulled down and be robbed of your hard earned cash then this is the place to go, as for me and my wife we won't be. We did mention the poor quality and value for money but it was brushed under the dirty carpet and she was going to feed our comments back to the kitchen."

"I was excited to revisit the New Inn after many years, as it used to be a favorite spot of mine. My group of 8 had pre-ordered at the request of the New Inn, but we were told 15 minutes after our booking time that our food was just being prepared. An hour later, our food still hadn't been served. After checking with the staff, the manager assured us that our order was next. Another 10 minutes passed before our food finally arrived. The gammon came with sides that we didn't like and were not mentioned on the menu. The portions were oversized, which was nice, but they were too much and off-putting. The salad trimmings were of poor quality. The fish in batter was enjoyed by those who ordered it. The main meals were okay, but I would have preferred better quality over quantity. We had to chase the staff for a glass of water, and even after being offered dessert menus, no one came to take our order. When we decided to follow up at the bar, the manager seemed more interested in finding out which staff member had failed to take our order than in solving the issue. The service was okay but could have been better, as no one checked on us after our meals were served. It seems like the staff could benefit from more positive training from a supportive mentor. When we asked for the bill, it took a while for it to be brought to us, so we ended up paying on the way out. It's a shame, as I had fond memories of the New Inn, but I am unlikely to return after this experience."
