"In fact, I'd rate 4 stars for the restaurant and the breakfast buffet- the fifth one is for the extraordinary friendliness we were served with! Actually, the breakfast area was completely taken when we arrived (Monday morning, 10:15), but the friendly waitress offered us a seat in the lunch area just mentioning that we could stay at longest until noon (which was more than enough). The offer of food is good, not too extensive, Turkish of course (lot of vegetables, no ham or the like). I for myself particularly enjoyed the non-Turkish buns (absolutely fresh, obviously from a German bakery) and -most of all- the free refill offer for coffee (tea as well), which is a real unique feature among high rated breakfast restaurants- with a considerable effect on the final bill. So, für 7,90 EUR, you get scrambled or boiled eggs, great fried potatoes, cheese and -as mentioned- a choice of Turkish breakfast vegetables. Only the freshly pressed orange juice is at extra cost. The buffet itself is quite not very spacious- it sure tends to become tight at busy times- so be patient, and if possible, don't choose a seat right near to the buffet."

Great food, good and sharp service, nice and sparkling place. Perfect mix of vegetarian and meat. Had a very nice dinner outside, enjoying the streetlife and the dinner.

Pamukkale is considered to be one of the best restaurants in Hamburg to serve authentic Turkish dishes in my opinion. The juicy kebabs and savoury appetisers cannot be missed. View menu

I can recommend the aubergine döner plate. You get a lot of food for your money. The place is quite casual but it was quite packed which is always a good sign for a restaurant.

We went in for lunch to the Doner restaurant. Lots of options and huge plates at very affordable prices. Halal food served for those needing halal option. I had the lentil soup and the falafel wrap and it was delicious. The portions are huge so order as per your appetite. View menu

I waited outside for about 20 minutes. I thought it could be a good restaurant, but the waiters were incredibly rude and unprofessional. The service was terrible; I ordered a Cola with my meal, but it never arrived, yet it’s listed on the bill. Despite the poor service, the meatballs I ate were quite good.

An old favorite which never disappoints! Being back in Hamburg after some time, I had to go back and it was so good, we returned a second time within a week. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, the service is nice and quick. We tried different dishes every time, but always the same dessert: The kunefe is a must!!! Vegetarian and vegan friendly!

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
