"We waited 30 minutes for our sandwich and toastie. Cannot understand why the service was so poor and the food is overpriced when there were 3 people working there and there were only 5 tables. We only ordered tea for 2 and a cheese and tomato toastie and tuna sandwich. When the food came 25 mins late they were very apologetic, but the sandwich was not on white bread as requested. Also, when I asked for more hot water for the tea, they said We don 't do that . The salad was a few leaves with a balsamic glaze. For the price, cafes serve you at least a bit of cucumber, tomato red onions etc. Yes, the staff were very friendly, yes it is very clean with pretty crockery, but I really hope they make these little changes, as this is not the first review to make these suggestions."

This cafe is charming and cozy. We enjoyed a delicious tea cake, a scrumptious scone, and excellent tea. The staff was very friendly. We would definitely come back if we were in the area again.

A great little find. Very quaint tearoom. Spotlessly clean, bright and cheerful decor, friendly staff, delicious cherry scone and a lovely, generous pot of tea. Would definitely visit again when in Stamford.

Lovely little place people very friendly but the coffee let the place down only doing tassimo coffee or filter so ended up just having a tea cake you really need to get a proper coffee machine to make proper coffee

Staff so friendly efficient and it is spotlessly clean . Found it expensive for basic food tbh £7 for a toastie a bit over the top and no option of some more hot water for my tea we don 't do that oh well we won 't be back. View menu

It's okay, but I think the prices and the quality of food do not match. The cakes were, in my opinion very over priced for very small portions. For example a very small cup cake sized victoria sponge was in excess of £2.50.

We struggle to decide where to eat when we come to Stamford so when we found this little gem we were pleasantly surprised. Very friendly welcome, table service too which I like. I had a toastie which came with salad and crisps and my partner had egg and beans on toast, we both thoroughly enjoyed our food and drink. Will definitely be back.

Quaint little tea shop with very friendly staff and kept very clean. We shared a savoury tea and a cream tea giving us both savoury and sweet. The scones were large enough to share and came on pretty crockery too. Prices were fair and it was a shame that it was just off the beaten track as it should have been busier. Thanks so much Pennies from Heaven! View menu

We frequent this café often. It is a charming, old-fashioned, cozy tea shop with welcoming staff and scrumptious cakes. The café is consistently clean, although it can feel a bit cramped when busy. My only complaint would be the coffee situation. My husband ordered a flat white, which turned out to be just coffee with milk. I was unable to get a non-dairy cappuccino. It may be time for them to upgrade to a better coffee machine. However, the hot chocolate is delicious.

We were not impressed with our recent visit to this restaurant. The food quality was poor considering the price we paid. The cream tea we ordered had tasteless jam and cream, and we were not even given any butter. The bread for the toastie was very thin and not of the expected quality for a grilled sandwich. They do not offer fruit juices for children, which was disappointing, so we ended up getting a bottle of plain water which turned out to be sparkling and costly at £2.20. While the staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean, we do not plan on returning in the future.

"The Stag Inn is a delightful looking pub overlooking the small green in the village of Barkston near Grantham. Internally the pub is clean and tidy with a range of two and four seater tables with New England shades of light blue on the painted table legs in the restaurant area. We didn’t venture into the pub side so can’t vouch for the decor in there. We arrived unannounced just after opening time of 12 and were offered a table with no difficulty. There was a menu of the usual offerings of fish and chips and a range of burgers together with roast salmon, chargrilled pork chop, a leek and cauliflower cheese pot pie, ham egg and chips and a vegetable lasagne amongst others. A specials chalkboard hung on the far wall and the crab and prawn salad with Mediterranean bread sounded so good we both opted for it. That was a mistake as we were to find out. The meals were reasonably quick to arrive and were served up in two large bowls with a dusting of paprika round the edges. What hit me immediately was the large flaccid green lettuce leaf draped over the edge of the bowl, together with a whole half-a-lemon that we each had. A small wedge would be perfect. The bread tasted sweet and was as far from the Mediterranean as it could possibly be apart from the occasional input of sundried tomato. What irked me most though was that the bread was delivered up pre-buttered with what looked like some bright yellow catering spread. A small ramakin of real butter between the two of us would work so much better. When asked if everything was okay I mentioned this and was told that chef would be informed. Having said all that the crab and prawn salad was full of flavour and sat on a nice mixed salad of red peppers, lettuce, red onion and cornichons. A word of advice to the wise….. don’t sit at the table near the restaurant counter as this is where the pub’s phone is located. On at least two occasions the phone was left to ring unanswered by the staff, presumably as they were busy elsewhere (the pub was by no means full) and was right behind my head! The volume of the ringer was high and it would have been a more pleasant experience for us if, firstly, it was answered and, secondly, the volume was turned down. On the plus side the staff were polite and helpful but the food not so great."
