"We were staying just around the corner at Les Cluses so we obviously had to try the food. The restaurant is right on the road ( D900 to Perthus). Staff were friendly and greeted and seated the 4 of us quickly. Drinks orders smoothly taken and delivered. Interesting menu at 12, 19 and 29 euros, also al la carte. My wife went for the paella which was huge and stuffed full of prawns, mussels, chicken drumstick and mini pork ribs; I opted for zarzuella which is a fish stew of langoustine, squid, cuttlefish, mussels and chunks of solid fish in an amazingly tasty broth - brilliant and no room for dessert! Our friends opted for roasted Camembert with charcuterie and duck breast. All excellent and costing around 18 euros. Local wine recommended by the waiter went perfectly with the meal. We went back a few nights later and were greeted by the same waiter, he seemed genuinely pleased to see us again. people had repeat dishes but I tried the Fideoua (18 euros) which is basically paella but made with small lengths of spaghetti rather than rice. Again so tasty and enormous, I could not finish it! The ladies had lovely deserts, Baileys over chocolate or coffee ice cream. They said they "were to die for". When we asked for the bill we were also presented with a tiny glass drinking vessel with a local spirit as a digestive, nice way to end a meal. Please don't be put of by the closeness of the road, you can eat inside and the road is not too intrusive."

Affectionately known as 'Le truckstop', we first went for wifi and frites, but it is more than that. Food is good, service too. Classic bistro, done well in an unglamorous location.

After visiting Fort de Bellegarde we stopped off on the way back to our hotel for dinner. The paella Royale for 2 was large and very tasty but just too much to finish. Included lobster among a good selection of sea food. The Catalan wine recommended was also good and was offered warm or chilled. The building may be uninspiring but the service was good, staff helpful although with little English and friendly.Located on road down from Perthus with parking so much easier than trying to find a parking space in the village.

Most tourists eat in the border towns of Perthus or Jonquera - we did neither. This little place is on the road out or in of Le Perthus with lovely views of the mountains.Food was okay - nothing special but for 9€ a dish was good value - we had fish and salad and catalan chicken (chicken thighs in tomato sauce then) both with frites which were slightly undercooked. Service was hit and miss, don't understand why people ask if you have finished when you haven't and a complete rush for the desert menu which featured well over the price ice cream. In all honesty, probably won't be back and the setting is very much geared for the tourists.

Le Laetitia is ggod eatery on the side of the road, just before Le Perthus and the Spanish Border. It has elements of Spain and France on the menu. We used to eat there regularly until a couple of years ago, and we revisited there last week to see if there had been any changes. Not much has changed, slightly larger terrace, and a general spruce up - and the staff seem to be the same, and we were warmly welcomed. It is a good value place in a good location and has good service. This time my wife had a lobster salad, oddly it had 3 claws, so it was actually 1.5 smallish lobsters, which I am sure would be thrown back if caught on a british boat. I had a filet steak, which was good and worth the...
