"the restaurant rudolph is located quite centrally in the hamburger district Blankenese.and is probably something like a neighboring pub - but at an elevated level. the kitchen is excellent and the card is put together in a variety of ways depending on the season. very particularly well known is the rudolph for his excelled weine, which the houseman introduces and explains with an impressive knowledge of the subject. In addition, he is a transforming cita-shaw, which is a suitable, spiritually pleasing to many places. a reservation therefore recommended. especially in the cold months, garden area and winter garden cannot be used, so that it sometimes becomes a little tight. The good mood there does not break down. Kitchen and cellar are of really good quality, the service flash and the home owner amusing - what more?"

Alles in allem sehr empfehlenswert. Nur der bis ins Restaurant vordringende Straßenlärm der Blankeneser Landstraße schmälert den Grad der positiven Bewertung minimal. View menu

I had Matjes Filet as starter and they were really good. The Labskaus was very good too. You will get the red beets, pickles and matjes separated but its your decision if you want to have it all together.

A hidden gem in "posh" Blankenese ... cozy interiors, friendly service and authentic Hanseatic fare like Matjes (herring), Sauerfleisch (meat in aspic) and Rote Grütze (red currant pudding with vanilla milk)

I'd like to go here, my 2nd home. the service is very pleasant, the dishes excellent, good weine and interesting events. you are integrated and have quick contact with other guests. wish are fulfilled without problem and the food freshly dressed. in summer the cozy garden can invite to eat and drink, an oasis in the middle of bare. we were the first time in the rudolph yesterday, although we have been living in bare and it was really nice. especially the service is very warm and nice, even if you are there with small child. we were able to sit out in the very nice beer garden. eating was also very good. good-bourgeois at high level to fair trips. the caesar salad had a little too little salad for my taste and the dressing could be a little spicy, but overall was very delicious. we're coming back!

We've eaten at Rudolph twice now, both times in December when with German friends who live in Blankenese. On both occasions we've been greeted like family (by both the owner/chef and people on adjoining tables!) and immediately felt at home in this incredibly cosy and atmospheric restaurant. The wine list is extensive and both the local beer and food superb: on both occasions we went for the local dish of kale (grünkohl) served with a choice of ham, pork or kochwurst (or, if you're really hungry, all three!) which was great. Rudolph isn't really on the tourist trail, but if you ever find yourself near Blankenese it's well worth a trip.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
