our cappuccinos were warm, there was no menu, no real choice we could not see the cake before they order. no serviettes were delivered. the worst was the fact that the caffe was covered with flying. my wife went to the rest room and. when she returned the cake plate, had 4 fly on it and 4 more in the coffee cup.

Im Schloss Wickrath ist im früheren Herrenhaus zum Park hin gelegen. Relativ wenige Tische im Erdgeschoß und einige im ersten Stock sind – Tribut an die baulichen Gegebenheiten – teilweise sehr eng zueinander angeordnet. Dennoch fühlt man sich nicht gedrängt. Die Küche bietet überwiegend deutsche Gerichte, schon mal mit französisch anmutendem Einschlag. Insgesamt schmackhaft zubereitet, wenn auch nicht besonders hervorzuheben. Die Preise sind moderat, auch die Weinpreise. Allerdings sind die angebotenen Hausweine gemessen an den Speisen dann doch zu einfach. Hier mussten wir dann doch zu Flaschenweinen greifen. View menu

Das Restaurant liegt neben dem Schloss im wünderschönen Wickrather Schlosspark mit viel Wasser drumherum. Es hat eine in die Jahre gekommene Einrichtung. Schade auch um lieblose Außenterasse (nicht barrierefrei u. WC im Keller). Offen liegende Kabel an einer Säule sind ein NoGo. Die zahlreichen Parkplätze für PKW und Wohnmobile sind innerorts gut ausgeschildert u. ca 200 m von Restaurant entfernt. An einem sonnigen Wochentag im September hatten wir Lust auf Kaffee und Kuchen. Das nach unserem Geschmack biedere Kuchensortiment war an diesem Werktag auf drei Kuchenarten beschränkt. this castle with its beautiful moated stalls is the center of shows for especially German ponies. there is a large arena that can be made quite warm and has very good seating for the public. it is the center where the registration of ponys is kept, including my young stallion, who was born and lives in england. in October they rated the young 2 year old pony hengste including new forest ponies, but most were the German riding ponies that have become the best in the world for dressage. these 2 year old ponies had to jump off. most of these ponies are from British origin, but they have cultivated them carefully so that they now have exceptional movement, good bones and spirit.
