"We went there on a sunday. Not many guests, however, we waited TWO HOURS to get our food. Only one waiter and one cook. The service was just terrible, and so was the food! We were the only non-germans there and it was clear that the germans were getting better service than us. Not great service either, but better. The waiter went pass us several times and just ignored us. When we finally got to order, they were our of several dishes on the menu. One thing that made the two hours of waiting even worse, was that they were playing the same song over and over again. Just that one song. The food was just terrible. Tasted of absolutely nothing. It was way to exoensive compared to quality. We will never visit again and will cannot remommend this place to anyone!"

Quite loud due to the low ceilings to found in such a historical spot. Close to the historical center of the harbour.

The restaurant is so nice and the food is really good but is a bit expensive honestly. They don't speak English and don't have the menu in others languages so it was a bit complicate to order, the chef was so kind and he explained a bit. They don't have a card machine and u don't have a bank and cash machine in the area.

Wonderful fresh fish. The Hamburger Pan Lachsfilet with mustard sauce. My spouse had the Scholer (flounder) with cucumber salad. Both with perfect fried potatoes. As it is a perfect summer night we sat outside in back and thoroughly enjoyed this place! Our waiter was great and was quite fluent in English. Highly recommend!

We ate here twice and were enchanted by the owners enthusiasm for the history of the restaurant and her passion for German cuisine. We had the best wiener schnitzel I have ever had and I am dreaming of the day I can return to experience the great food and ambiance of this so essentially Hamburg institution. Delightful and delicious!

Located on one of oldest streets of Hamburg - the place is a real time machine to the past centuries and great cuisine traditions of Germany. We're driven inside by the fantastic smell of the grilling pig... and inside we saw the waiter in a medieval costume with a medieval guitar! It's a top place, if you want to have some true German food with historical service

This retaurant is excellent to enjoy with a group of friends. We had the big table in wood and they prepared a cake for our friend to blow out the candles. As nobody was inside the restaurant at the end of our meal, they allow us to put some music and we had some cocktails. It was intimist, welcoming, and we had the best night in Hambourg thanks to them ! I can only recommend to go there !

The place had a very nice genuine german atmosphere and the food was really good. Think they had a bad night though. Only one guy made an efort to give us some sort of service. He ran around trying to keep up while his collegues in the bar just stod around doing nothing. We had to remind them three times to get our drinks and they mixed up our food order. A positive thing was that they gave us a shnaps on the house at the end of the meal. Hopefully this was just a bad night and that they usually have a high er standard on their service.

We were here with a group of some 15 people, having a three course menu suited for meat and fish eaters as well as vegetarians. The welcome was warm and we had the bread, water and butter on the table ready, got swiftly served with drinks, and waited for the starter. The waiting time was rather long, but I think that was on purpose because we were chatting so much. Everything got served simultaneously and the meals were well cooked. The choice of beers and wines was diverse and the quality very good. Added to that the helpful assistance, always with a smile no matter what was asked for, we considered it all a place with a heart.
