"During our twelve day stay in Berlin, we splurged on two higher end recommended restaurants. Richard, like many such establishments, has what one might expect: a beautifully appointed interior, rather quirky but interesting art, impeccable, tasteful service, and very creatively presented dishes. In contrast to the Rutz wine bar, we found the flavours here to be more distinctive and interesting--all of the dishes we sampled were not just beautifully presented but indeed, very tasty as well. All in all, we enjoyed our experience at Richard and it was a lovely choice for the last night of our twelve day vacation in Berlin.A few little quibbles: The menu is small, requires a fair amount of explanation (at least it did for us), and there are no options to order 'a la carte'. Diners have the choice to order a number of courses--four, five, six, etc. As is to be expected in restaurants of this nature, the portion sizes are certainly not hearty. My husband complained, as an example, that his ravioli dish contained exactly that -- ONE ravioli. So although we both chose the four course menu with a dessert to share, we left feeling sufficiently satisfied only because both of us partook of a fair amount of the delicious bread to fill in the gaps in the quantity. Similarly, they are really quite scanty in their definition of a glass of wine, completely unlike, for example, our experiences in Spain. Lastly, although the restaurant does have a lovely Romantic ambiance, I found the tables to be in too close proximity to each other. And, it is expensive. Total bill was 210 Euros for the four course menu each, a dessert, and three glasses of wine. This is decidedly more expensive than what we would pay in a similar type restaurant back home in Canada."

If this place once had a good kitchen, things have changed. Ordinary lunch food minimized and served in a high class disguise. Maybe I had bad luck with my ribs and choclate-dessert, but for a place with a star there is no room for misstakes.

we were a group of 8 and had a good night out at this really deeply French and experimental place, while a it short on the right wine for us, we ended up with a strong focus on the menue and enjoyed all 5 courses.what a treat, yes its outstanding, and the food is a huge play on the pallet and on the taste buds - congratulations to the maitre and the kitchenrecommended, but requires 100 euro p head to enjoy as a minimum

A charming funky Michelin restaurant, in a street that is partly run down, partly renovated sweet in diverse Kreuzberg. The place is filled with modern art including decadent drawings and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The owner presents the choices in food and wine with a contagious enthusiasm and the kitchen delivered in a modern, elegant style with small, pretty plates focusing on vegetables. The always hungry teenager needed a kebab afterwards, the rest of the family was blissfully sated. Value for money in terms of quality if not quantity. View menu

A recent relocation to Berlin opens up a whole new set of friends and opportunities. Two galant friends (with healthy wallets) treated me to a wonderful evening at Richard. We were first in and last out and the time didn't drag. The option is purchase several courses at different tariffs. I am not a big portion person and had four courses, which was perfect and with the additional dishes (amuse bouche) I did not leave a mouthful - very unusual for me. My friends like more to eat and had more courses. The service was attentive and well paced. The environment lovely - great atmosphere. The wine list had a good selection. Most of all a great culinary experience. Worth making the journey.

I feel that raving over a particular establishment has become such a cliché but Richard really is in a league of its own.I was very satisfied from the get-go; the menu was a solid selection, be it various meats, fish or vegetarian. I can sometimes get stumped by strange unappetising options in some establishments, but Richard's is proof of the importance of sticking with basics and not compromising them with weird ingredients. It was traditional, yet still exciting and new. I could easily have ordered everything here, just from the menu itself. The food that came definitely surpassed many other Michelin-starred restaurants I had visited. This place is bound to be awarded a second star! I can...

Richard is a great place to enjoy excellent cusisine at a very modest price level. There are only two menus (one vegetaric, one carnivore) and one can select from six to seven different dishes. Four, five and six courses are €64, €78 and €88. I went with the Atlantic Makerel, sauteed chanterel mushrooms, sweet bread of veal, the Mieral Dove and the cheese plate. All dishes were excellently prepared and represented harmonious tastes and flavors. Their wine list is large but limited to European wines. We enjoyed a crisp bottle of "Gruener Veltliner" an Austrian Wine at around €80 per bottle. Service is very efficient without any arrogance or pushyness. The restaurant itself is small and decora... I believe the title of the comment says it all about the restaurant. We booked it with my partner for a special occasion, as we both appreciate good food.We had the 7-gang menu with a red wine recommended by the waiter. At this point i should mention that i wish there was a recommendation for wine pairing for each dish. We are not wine experts so we would appreciate the extra help. Anyway the german pinot noir we had was amazing, so we kept on ordering throughout the dinner. The dishes were all super presented, very tasty and of course of undeniable quality.A couple of them were also something special in terms of taste, including the dessert. But the majority were not mind-blowing or super impr...

I was lucky enough to be invited to dinner at this restaurant by some industry colleagues during ITB (a travel exhibition). They had eaten here 3 years ago and remembered this restaurant. There are a few restaurants I have eaten in that I would go back to a city for and this has now joined that list. The restaurant is in the former East Berlin in an upcoming area of the city. From the outside it is really unremarkable but inside it's really something special with an original interior dating from the 1900 era. It has been subtly updated with some modern details. The staff are warm, welcoming and excel at what they do. There is not a hint of stuffiness. You choose how many courses you want. Th...
