"There are bad restaurants, terrible restaurants and then there is Shan Gout.I've been to Paris 9 times and had my share of rude service and bad Asian food. But this is just jaw-droopingly bad food and the service is not just rude. It was get-up-and-scream bad. It is probably the worst restaurant my wife and I have ever been to!We walked in for lunch and most of the tables were empty. The waiter, who I believe is the owner, refused to answer even the basic questions.Anyway, we went ahead and ordered sticky rice and noodles with some vegetables. And dumplings. The dumplings were in-edible and my son, who eats practically anything, refused to touch it after two bites.I had the stick rice and I swear - when I poked my chopstick and lifted it, the entire bowl of rice came out. It was more like glue-rice, not sticky rice. My wife had ordered noodles which she could also not separate. It was not surprising because the dish was cooked in front of us in literally 60 seconds. The waiter/owner then completely lost all interest in us. We wanted a fork since chopstick was not the right instrument. By this time, we were the only ones in the room. He just waved me over to a place which had a bunch of chopsticks. Come on!When time came to pay, he refused to take my Visa card, which I've been using all over Paris. I pointed to him that his instrument does take cards. He just flatly refused to try.Anyone who thinks this place even remotely serves Chinese food should really get out there and try real Chinese food.Avoid this at all costs!"

One of the best Chinese food in Paris. Having been to Paris for many years this is the authentic to date. The dumplings are worth the visit alone. Unfortunately the owner wants to turn the place into a noodle joint, which is a pity as his range of culinary skills is excellent.

I am reviewing this restaurant again. Why you may ask?As they we're here originally (rue Hector Malot) then moved to the rue de Charenton and then back here once again some things have changed. The chef who is as great as any French chef spends days cooking, weeks finding products and as much time using his intelligence and imagination to combine different ideas from different parts of China. There is also something of his new land, that is the French Nouvelle Cuisine. For 35€ you'll get a tasting menu with 5 different plates as well as a dessert. Our week's menu was :1 - Starter fried ravioli with a sesame sauce2 - Followed by a chicken based egg drop soup carefully prepared according to wate...
