"My wife I called here for lunch. We both agreed that the hospitality and food were disapointing. The staff were three young girls who looked bored and disinterested in their work. A further young lady leaning against the bar, and accompanied by two young children appeared to be either friend or off-duty staff who was engrosed in conversation with the 'working staff '. The topic of discussion seemed to relate to the the previous evenings excitment in the pub. In fairness, the girls performed the basic minimal duties nessecary to take orders and serve, but it was the inattentive distracted nature of their behavour that was the overwhelming impression. The food arrived, and it looked fair, but the breadbun was stale, and as my lunch consisted of fish fingers in a breadbun, this effectively destroyed the enjoyment. I only took one bite from my breadbun, and when the waitress sheepishly asked if we 'd enjoyed our food, I told her that the breadbun was stale. Her response was I 'll let the chef know When we left the restaurant and crossed the car park to our car, I looked back to see the three yourg male cooking staff on the upper floor staircase, smoking and gazing out over the carpark. I felt that the premises had been left in the hands of imature inexperienced young people who were more interested in their social lives than providing a warm welcome and great food. If you are a discerning diner wanting a reasonable level of service and a reasonable standard of food, I believe you will be disapointed."

The food was excellent and the service from Freya and Oren at the bar was exceptional. They provided us with fantastic recommendations for what to order.

I would not go back here for food or drinks, should have complained really as I left it all, the only thing i could taste on my lasagne was the cheese on the top, very expensive for what u get, everything was poor. Food used to be good and tasty, it's been a while since we've been there but that's the last

We visited the ship on Father’s Day for Sunday lunch we had not booked but we easily got a table for the two of us. We got two gorgeous lunches beef and pork they were awesome absolutely delicious meat was lovely and a very good selection of veg and cauliflower cheese the Yorkshire puddings were gorgeous best I’ve tasted in a long time. Staff are so friendly and efficient well done all at the ship

Food was absolutely disgusting, parmo tasted of fish so obviously deep fried in same oil as they fry the fish in, we all left food and left, outside is over flowing with rubbish bins and chefs stood outside smoking while u r trying to digest their horrible food, and i don’t see the point in putting reviews up when someone keeps taking them down, what is the point of doing a review, they need to sort them selves out or close the food down before someone gets put in hospital

We booked a room for the evening due to a difficult parking problem at another venue. We were pleasantly surprised at the charm and cheerful setting. The new owner was gracious and staff were friendly and attentive. They are undergoing changes to upgrade their services and menus and overnight guest rooms. I would not be at all surprised that they make a huge re-entry into the limelight with their fabulous attention to detail and historic charm and beautiful seaside location!

After strolling from Saltburn along the beach, we decided to stop by The Ship. It was our first time visiting, so we weren't sure what to expect. It was a pleasant surprise to see the entrance still utilizing revolving doors! The bar area was very spacious, offering a variety of seating options. We enjoyed both lunch and drinks, and found the menu options to be plentiful. The sandwiches we ordered were well presented and a good value. Although the drinks were served in different types of glasses, they were still enjoyable. We would definitely recommend The Ship and plan to return in the future.

We stayed at this establishment for a few days and are considering extending our stay. It is a dog-friendly place, even offering ice cream for dogs. The atmosphere is very welcoming in this pub/hotel, with friendly managers, staff, and customers. The breakfasts are delicious and the staff go out of their way to accommodate any requests. The beds are comfortable, there is free wifi, and the rooms are lovely. There is great entertainment a few times a week in the pub, and the food in the restaurant is also delicious. We plan on trying more items from the menu during our stay. We will definitely be returning in the future.
