"If one member of staff had cracked even a tiny smile it might have made the visit just a tiny bit better, by the time they told us to leave our reserved table half and hour early we had already decided not to give the place any more of our money, food was mediocre, staff attitudes appalling, working in hospitality is hard work, I know, I have worked in it most of my life running hotels, this was a Saturday night and not one member of staff looked like they cared at all about thier job or customers, not one dynamic member of staff seen, least of all the two that appeared to be in charge, the 'welcoming hostess ' looked downright hostile, barely said a word to us, mind you neither did the girl behind the bar who took our order and we were actually talking directly to her!? Possibly need more staff, the outside in particular looked shocking, glasses on every table despite there being no one sat out there on arrival or departure, but if you employ more staff possibly get ones that actually want a job.."

Cocktails lovely but 2 for 1 offer on a Friday and Saturday night means over 30 minute wait at the bar. App service on the top slows it down even more. Rethink needed on these 2 things at this venue…

My Fish finger wrap consisted of TWO fish goujons, some soggy iceberg and some watery tartare sauce. My fries were all 1 inch long scraps. They charge £5.15 for a small can of alcohol free lager. There is no atmosphere. The place was overpriced and bleak... The service was ok (quick and friendly) but i ordered my food and drink via the app so their involvement was pretty minimal. Find somewhere else if you can.

"Visited on a busy Saturday evening. General impression is the restaurant is clean, well presented and evidently well liked for how many people were in the small dining area. A little noisy, particularly in the confined space beside the kitchen, when seated close beside a louder table. As the evening progressed, we felt quite cold not sure if the heating was on? Service from the staff was outstanding, very friendly, polite, attentive, but food was slow to arrive. We were a little perplexed by having the appetiser on the table before our starter/main order had been taken, so having to work around still having the menus. The smoked butter was very strong my partner liked it, it was too much for me. Both fish starters were good, with the mackerel our favourite. The main courses were OK. The lamb was fine, but served with lamb fat root veg meant the whole plate was very similar flavoured, and the green beans/salsa verde felt like an afterthought. The skate wing was nice, and the crispy capers were a new and pleasant experience. The desserts rescued the food for me the creme brulée was outstanding, and the chocolate special was very good, with exception of a slightly chewy meringue. I feel I'm being picky with my criticisms, but fig tree is definitely priced higher than other more standard fare restaurants in Plymouth where we have also had very good food."
