"We’ve came two days in a row as my Daughter liked the ice cream that much. The first visit the staff were miserable and rude with it. Making a fuss of one of their friends who were visiting. We waited quite a while to be acknowledged but the ice cream was tasty. We thought we had just caught them on a bad day. However we have just visited again and the service was just the same. No customer service skills atall and it is not cheap. Bad experience and would be reluctant to return again."

We popped in for lunch after a lovely trip in the River Dee. We had superb generous cheese and ham sandwiches and tea. Lovely location at the riverside.

What a way to spend a lovely sunny day down by the river than eating an ice cream from Snugburys. We tried a variety of flavours between us and all were delicious Ability to sit inside or out

Coffee is lovely, cakes are yummy and staff are really friendly and accommodating. Usually have the sausage rolls but tried the soup today which was delicious. Excellent range of ice cream. Great place to stop when having a walk along the river or a good stop off the walls.

What a great spot right on the river Dee! Beautiful scenery all around. Ordered sausage roll and sweet potato dal roll and coffees for both of us. We were both quite pleased and could not decide which roll was better. Clean place, nice employees, good food couldn't ask for more. View menu

Very disappointed, I ordered three flat white coffees. They looked nothing like the coffee pictured in the previous post. The coffee came in small cups, the top of the coffee was pale and under the froth the coffee was sadly lacking. I was tempted to ask for a shot of espresso but the staff didn't strike me as approachable. Nice cafe inside.

The food at this restaurant was absolutely terrible. There were only two options on the menu - ham and cheese sandwiches or a ham and cheese dish. The taste was so bad that I had to spit it out. The coffee was undrinkable once again. We ended up leaving everything uneaten as it was all disgusting. I felt completely ripped off. My advice would be to avoid this place at all costs.

As locals in Chester, we come here often, as a mid morning break from work, before walking along the adjacent river. Jenny, Sophie and the whole team are always friendly and attentive. The coffee/cappuccino is great and the scones are the best we have tasted, in the UK or abroad soft and delicate on the inside, with a lovely crusty outside, all served with cream (or butter) and jam. I recently visited this restaurant and was disappointed to find out that they do not accept cash, citing safety and cost reasons. I don't understand how handling items and passing them to customers is any different from handling money. There are more and more people like me who refuse to support businesses with such "woke" ideals, so I believe they are losing out on revenue. I imagine this policy extends to all locations of this restaurant. I will not be returning.

Snugburys in Chester has quickly become a top spot for us to indulge in a treat by the river. The staff is consistently friendly, and the variety of flavors to choose from is fantastic. The restaurant is consistently clean and welcoming, with a pleasant outdoor seating area overlooking the river. However, it is worth noting that Snugburys tends to be a bit more expensive compared to other ice cream establishments in the area, which is why we have given it four stars.
