"I was wandering around the Altstadt and had decided that I was going to go to Carlsplatz for lunch when I found this place. A place with only spätzle? Why not?Great idea for a restaurant. There are many options for the vegetarian and for the meat lover. You also can decided between a small plate or a large place with a price difference of approximately 2 euros. I ordered the spätzle with the beef goulash. When I sat down, they brought me the cheese spätzle instead which I accepted because I don't like to waste food. They then offered a complimentary side of beef goulash which then turned out to be the ideal dish -- super savory and delicious without the heaviness. The layout of the restaurant is quite small - just 6 places with barstools and 2 large community tables but the turnover is relatively quick during lunch hour.I think this would be a great place to bring out of town guests (especially the vegetarian ones!) who want a traditional German meal without the grease and heaviness. All the spätzle is handmade and organic and the portions are filling. One can eat well and have a drink for 10 euros or less!"

Food was great, nice place. Not much seating but worth it. We ordered the spaetzle with goulash and it was yummy. Organic beef, environment conscious.

our daughter took us there and it was great. we had eaten out a lot and I have to say this was on par with food that I paid 5x the amount for. only regret was not going back for more.

We were looking for a place to eat spätzles as we knew it is something to eat in Germany. The first place we found is this and it didn't disappoint us at all!The owner and waiter spoke English fluently and helped us to take a good choice! The food was very good and more than enough to survive the rest of the day ;).

I love spaetzle but I've never had it offered so many ways. Down a somewhat hidden alley is Spatz Up and trust me, it's worth trying. First, get the iced tea with mint and ginger. Each dish is made to order. I tried the version with sauerkraut and the one with mushrooms. Filling but not heavy, this is a classic dish and is worth seeking out. For those who don't know, spaetzle is a type of pasta/dumpling. View menu

The place was really cozy and warm, the owner extremely friendly (he even managed to find time, between one client and the other, to explain how he makes this traditional dish called spätzle), the food handmade and delicious (it was the first time with spätzle for me, and I had the chance to taste 3 different recipes). If you are looking for a place where to consume a fast but really typical German meal, this is the place to be.

Went in for a quick lunch. They offer several versions of the typical Spätzle - the ones we had were definitely tasty. We went in expecting to get our food pretty quickly, but we had to wait about 10 minutes as they make everything fresh. We weren't in a rush so that was fine and we appreciated it being fresh, but if you're in a rush you should try something else. The portions were decent, but not oversized (as German dishes often tend to be).

This place was a little gem hidden down a back alley in Dusseldorf. Blink, and you will miss it. The spätzle was authentic, fresh, and made to order with tons of different ingredients to choose from. We kept it fairly simple and thoroughly enjoyed what we had. The young man working that day was very friendly and easily accommodated our lack of German by speaking English (quite well) and was able to fully inform us of how things worked there. Great place, great food. View menu

I love spätzle, but I wasn't in love with this place. The concept is great fresh spätzle (German pasta) with organic ingredients and focused flavors. The shop itself is small but cozy, and with its location smack dab in the middle of Altstadt, it has the potential to be the perfect snack stop. I tried the goulash spätzle (6 Euro for small 8 Euro for large), but unfortunately wasn't that impressed. The beef quality was nice, but the flavor of salt overpowered everything else. I didn't see any pepper or other condiments to add to balance the salt out either. To be honest, it reminded me of a slightly elevated version of mensa cafeteria food. Service was super friendly and welcoming, and the at...

I had been eyeing this place near our hotel for days after feeling really full of heavy food. It just had this really special clean, homemade bright vibe that kept calling to me. My husband was jonesing for another heavy german schnitzel when I put my foot down and pouted until he would go in. We are so glad we did. The owner, Marcos, is a lovely man who enjoys explaining how he came to present this lovely, but unique menu to this area. His food is southern German and all of his ingredients organic. He serves a bavarian beer as well as these great fruit spritzers. The spatzle is oddly light and very fresh and tasty. His fruit spritzer supplier happened to be sitting down for a meal, so we ha...
