"For our main courses, we ordered cauliflower cheese, roast beef, steak and ale pie, and the fried chicken. Each time we ordered drinks, something was missing. After an hour without receiving any food, we flagged down the servers, who hadn’t noticed our delay. We requested that our starters come out at the same time as our mains since it was getting late. The food was disappointing: the whitebait was acceptable, but the pigs in blankets were raw inside. The cauliflower cheese had barely any cheese and tasted more like flour, the vegetables were undercooked, and the pie had a raw pastry with scant filling. The plating was inconsistent, though the roast beef was well-cooked and seasoned. When I spoke to the manager, he was apologetic and offered us a significant discount. He informed us that he had recently taken over the establishment and that they were experiencing difficulties during their first weekend. It took an additional 25 minutes for him to come and process our payment after we requested the check. It's really unfortunate because the location is lovely. I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon."

A super pub right beside the river in a lovely setting. Great for a summer evening. Such helpful staff, and the fish and chips is excellent!

The location is amazing. I can't say the same about the food though. It was just average, a bit tasteless, and definitely something they need to work on unfortunately. The waiter service was very good.

Warmly welcomed by staff. Lovely location next to the river. Nice decor, lots of canal boat decor very fitting. Good choice on menu. We settled for sharing baked camembert and having a dessert each. Was not very crowded but still had nice atmosphere and the food was very good. Prices were reasonable. Close to RHS Wisley. View menu

I HAVE visited this pub loads of times over the last 40 years and it has also been magical Set right on Pyrford lock it is a wonderful place to sit and watch the barges go through. The food is excellent and the staff are very well trained and welcoming The pub itself is clean and beautiful. There is plenty of parking opposite. The food is quite pricey.

We like the atmosphere and outdoor sitting areas, service was great, attentive polite staff. We would recommend a different varieties of food could be added to the menu. Also we couldn't see a list of soft drinks on the menu to choose. The waitress read it from tablet for us. The outdoor chairs were not comfortable. In general it's a nice place to visit on the way.

I stumbled upon The Anchor by chance, and I'm so glad I did. We didn't have a reservation, but even with the place being full, they managed to accommodate us! The staff was wonderfully hospitable, and there was a fantastic selection of craft beers. The food was delicious as well! I highly recommend this spot. Plus, the views are stunning! I will definitely be returning! View menu

Lovely seating area outside. Ran out of some drinks but normal on a bank holiday I guess. However there’s no excuse for the shockingly poor Sunday lunches. Dry potatoes, cauliflower cheese that looked and tasted like it was sat in the hot cupboard l day. And the vegetables, a teaspoon of peas, leeks and red cabbage and then the worst carrots I’ve ever had. The chicken was bland and dry. Shame as was very much looking forward to trying out the food here As a fellow hospitality worker, I can’t comprehend how bad the Sunday offering was.

I absolutely love the Anchor. It’s a wonderful example of a welcoming, laid-back pub, and the view is truly something to behold. I often find myself here just before the evening rush, especially when the weather is nice. Interestingly, I’ve never had trouble finding a great seat, and the service has always been fantastic. I highly recommend it to anyone who looks at their watch and realizes it’s time for a Pimm's! The food looks amazing, although I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. I’ll update my review after my next visit, but I’m sure it’s just as wonderful!

"Disappointed to have booked and not be warned about the mezze being the only available option. Told when sat down. Not much option but to accept. Food great. Tried to charge for each of us there were adults and an year old and year old despite agreeing to do deal for the of them when we ordered. When asked for the bill I was over charged. They didn’t leave bill on table and just tell you the value and present the card machine immediately. I queried and he went to alter. I paid. I realised that in fact they had charged more than the first time. I ended up having to ask for a print out of the bill on my way out. He gave it to me. It wasn’t even our bill plus they’d charged for the set menu!!?!?!!. I wrote down what we had eaten and drank and we added it up properly together and he had indeed overcharged by He couldn’t refund the card and so gave cash. Lush food. If you go please check what’s on offer before you go. Then insist that the bill if left on your table like in a normal restaurant. This gives the customer the time to check all is well before paying. I really felt the chap was trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Don’t let them! He did the same to another table which had a couple and a young child of about or Charged The excuse was that he couldn’t deduct dine in because we only wanted set menus. Rubbish. We have eaten out all month in the scheme in restaurant in bristol and in central London and this is the only time I’ve heard this tosh. Chap could put whatever he wanted into the till ...it’s his restaurant. of us dined. x to come of bill. I found the whole invoicing experience poor and embarrassing."
