"We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious and fresh traditional pub food at this restaurant. We were lucky to have made a reservation as the place was packed on a Thursday night. The food was served on rustic wooden tables, and we tried the liver and bacon on mash with a variety of fresh vegetables. Our wives opted for the scampi and chips, which were generously portioned and accompanied by excellent fries. For dessert, we indulged in sticky pudding and pear and apple crumble, both served with a tasty custard. The beer and cider selection was great, and the friendly service made for an enjoyable evening. Overall, the experience was fantastic and the prices were very reasonable - at less than £25 per person, it was a great value."

I'm having a wonderful time in Australia, but I can't help but miss The BJ! I can't wait to return and catch up with everyone while enjoying a nice pint.

What a lovely dining experience we have just had from the return phone call while trying to book the welcome when we entered the pup the service from the waitress but most of all the quality of our food was 1 st class .I can recommend the sea bass ratatouille from a menu which had plenty of choice and excellent value . I had an amazing Sunday lunch at this restaurant. In addition to the roast, there were other options on the menu to choose from. The food was perfectly prepared, tasty, and the service provided by the friendly and attentive staff was excellent. The portion sizes were generous and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place.

We had dinner at this pub and it was so good we went back the next night too. All four meals were excellent duck confit, tagliatelle, burger, and a fish platter. The chef clearly knows what s/he is doing, the waiting and bar staff were friendly, the other patrons (mostly locals from what we could tell) were friendly too. Prices were reasonable. We’d definitely go back if we were in the area again.

Stopped here on the way to watch a football match at Staplehurst Monarchs. The beer was fantastic and one of the best pints of Harveys I have had, the welcome you got was excellent and the took the time to explain the tin of Tuna and Spam that they have there (i wont spoil it). will definitely return, we didnt eat but a few plates went past us and they looked lovely . Dog Friendly loads of street parking thank you View menu

Excellent food, excellent friendly, helpful staff, excellent atmosphere and excellent value for money what more could you want? With friends we went for Sunday lunch. My wife had a traditional roast beef dinner, I had the gammon. Both were excellent; my wife said the beef just melted in her mouth. The desserts were just as excellent. My wife is Gluten Free but this did not cause any problems whatsoever. Would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a traditional pub with excellent food.

This is a great traditional country pub with tables kept very clean and real ale on tap. It was the wife’s birthday and we wanted an early meal somewhere where we could take our dogs. We rang to book a table and being a Wednesday it was quite quiet so no problem with getting in. Lovely friendly owner/staff welcomed us and throughout our meal we had a chat with them. They were happy to adapt the menu to suit our needs. Fish cakes, sea bass and steak were all cooked to perfection with decent size portions. Menu prices are very reasonable and I would expect it to get busy at the weekend. It’s a shame we are moving away from the area as it’s definitely worth a visit

"Firstly I would like to say that this restaurant has just been refurbished, and it didn’t feel like an Italian restaurant, more like a cafe at the beach somewhere! It felt very sparse and most Italian restaurants I e been to have proper tablecloths on the table but these were plastic and I noticed one table it was tapped up underneath, in my opinion it needs to be made more warmly and have more of a family feel. The food was really nice, although I would advise anyone to make sure they double check their order as I chose chicken in a sauce really nice which came with vegetables but I also asked for a separate portion of potatoes, when it arrived I just had chicken with a few cut up potatoes and a very very small garnish of salad ! I mentioned this to the waitress who had taken our order and she said I know but the chef had given you extra salad !! Sorry but salad is not vegetables , it clearly said on the menu it came with vegetables. Having said about the above issue, the meals we all had were nice and the staff gave us a very warm welcome and because of the blip they said we could have a free pudding…..not sure if we all did or it was just mine but I never see the bill as we were treated to this. To finish the evening off we were given a lovely limoncello shot. We would definitely go back. Thankyou for a lovely evening in your restaurant"
