"If you have not yet dined at The Boat, I highly recommend making a reservation as soon as possible! The dining experience at this restaurant is truly fantastic, with flavors and textures that can compete with those of many top restaurants in London. The Boat is definitely deserving of a Michelin star. I must also give a shoutout to the exceptional young team working there. During our first visit, we were absolutely blown away by the quality of the food. Every course was outstanding from beginning to end. It was also a pleasure to sample some local wines from the Pattingham Vineyard near Wolverhampton, with the sparkling wine being a particular standout. The wines were introduced to us by a talented young sommelier. In conclusion, make a reservation at The Boat now! You will not be disappointed."

The tasting menu was delicious, with each course being excellent. The wine pairings were lovely. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Though not inexpensive, it was great value for a special occasion. View menu

We visited on Father's Day for Sunday lunch. The menu was a tasting menu and every dish was fantastic. The service was welcoming and fast, and the ambience and setting were delightful. There was a pleasant outdoor area with plenty of covered seating and comfortable chairs. It was also nice to see the micro farm on site. We will definitely return as the food and ingredients were of exceptional quality.

Wonderful Sunday lunch at this lovely restaurant. Food was fantastic. So many ‘extra’ surprise courses. The roast beef itself was exquisite. The staff were friendly and super knowledgeable and efficient. We had a six month old in our party so we were a bit apprehensive about how things would go. The staff could not have been more helpful and despite it being a formal dining experience, we were made very welcome even with a small breastfed baby. Many thanks for an enjoyable birthday meal. We had an amazing experience at The Boat. The food was excellent and some of the best we have had. We enjoyed every course but the standout dish was the Lobster Tortellino. Really liked the chefs themselves serving and explaining their dishes which made it more personal. We found all the staff friendly but our main server Mitchell really made our evening. He was professional, funny and genuinely chatted to us, making us feel like he was actually interested in us and not just following a script like we have found in many other restaurants. Such a shame we don’t live nearby to come here more often.

We had a lovely meal here last night for my husbands birthday. Tasting menu was all stunning, the chefs come to the table for some courses and explain what the dish is in detail etc which was a nice touch. Have posted a pic of menu and some food pictures. The only reason i haven't given five stars is because of some of the slow service by waiting staff. There was plenty of staff around most of them very young but throughout the three hours we were there we had to call someone over three times to order drinks as our glasses had been empty for some time. I expect a better service than that when you are paying £200+ for two people to dine. Was lovely but probably wouldn't return

"This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit."
