"Any time you visit Kendal, and are looking for a small artisan coffee shop, that also provides snacks and small meals, the Bristly Hog is the place to go. They take their coffee seriously, and you will not only be offered a choice of coffees, but also a choice of bean blends. The food choice is more than adequate, and there are occasional deals available such as a bacon sandwich and coffee in the mornings, or a coffee and cake deal 8n the afternoon. It is located close to the Post Office, across from the library, and there is seating upstairs and down, or outside if the weather is fine."

What a lovely place, staff really friendly, breakfast food was delicious, the granary toasted bread tasted home baked, turns out it was from Asda! Little expensive but worth it. 10 out of 10.

Called in on a Friday morning, not too busy. After small delay in being given menus, we both chose small breakfasts. Good quality produce, very tasty breakfast and just the right size. Would return.

Nice find in a high street full of competing eateries. Food was good home cooked stuff and the service was truly excellent quick, friendly and attentive. The dog got a bowl of water and a biscuit too. First class

beautiful smoothies and delicious tablet bags that was great enough to share! most staff were friendly and welcoming. our biggest problem was that the people were allowed to smoke on the tables outside and, as the doors were open, we had to bear the smell in the inner that was not pleasant.

We were staying in Kendal for a couple of nights and didn 't fancy the all you can eat breakfast at the hotel so walk round the corner and found this cafe. Came in both mornings, the food is freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and a hive of local knowledge. Would definitely visit again if we 're back in Kendal.

top rated in kendal. don't let go of random name. we both have the Peruvian inspired hot ciabatta. super delicious. we both rejected each other. service was great. all staff were very friendly and helpful. many seating, outdoors, indoors and above. we actually didn't get a coffee coz, it was a skorcher of a day, but I heard other orders and raving about her coffee. they can also choose their mix, something I've never been asked. definitiw recommended, this site

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
