"I visited here when I was in Newent last weekend with the little un. I needed to find a bank while I was there and came across this place so me and a friend popped in for a cup of tea and a slice of cake. It's situated on the main high street and doubles as an Italian restaurant in the evening. The place is set out with those small tables suitable for a family of four with nice little table cloths. We didn't stop for long but had a cup of tea and some cake. The tea came out in one of those old pots that your grandmother used to have on her kitchen table. They had proper cups too. My cake was very well presented and tasted yummy. If we had had longer I might have stopped for some lunch but what I saw looked traditional, welcoming and irresistible. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area. Just a pity I won't be visiting in the evening to try their Italian food as it's more than a stone's throw from where I live. In summary A little place of old England. Glad to see places like this are still around"

A small but really good tea room in the centre of Newent. Great service from the owners. Good coffee and excellent food. Well worth a visit

The homemade cakes at this restaurant were delicious and reasonably priced. We especially enjoyed the Eccles cakes. I would definitely come back again.

Always good food freshly prepared, The owners are always friends and nothing is too much trouble. They will prepare things that are not always in their menu,

Popped in for lunch. Partner had French onion soup, served with crusty bread. He said it reminded him of a soup he'd enjoyed in Montmartre, Paris, which is a great compliment! I wasn't very hungry so asked if they could do me an egg mayo sandwich. It was lovely! John Pearl are welcoming friendly visit before they retire!

Popped in spur of the moment to grab a bite of lunch as I saw advertised on a board outside that they do soup of the day with crusty bread for £3.25. Todays was Roasted Red Pepper and Basil. The soup was delicious and extremely good value. The staff were more then happy to provide additional bread if needed and were very helpful.

I stopped by this week for a bacon sandwich while working in town. The new owner, Colin, used to run a cafe in Ledbury where I frequented often. He was previously the General Manager at the Kilcot Inn, a local spot in Newent, before taking over The Italian Kitchen. Colin has always been friendly and welcoming to all. The cafe is charming and located in a delightful town.

I recently enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea at this charming café and I highly recommend it. I have had afternoon tea at many luxury hotels, but none compare to the experience I had at the Cake Room. The meal started with delicious homemade soup, followed by scones with jam and cream, a variety of sandwiches and wraps, tasty sausage rolls, and a delightful selection of homemade sweets. The food was exceptional and there was enough left over to take home in two large boxes. I will definitely be returning. A big congratulations to the owner and the wonderful staff at the café!

Four of us popped in this cafe for a snack during a walking holiday in Gloucestershire last week. I had a superb parmesan and herb scone and other dishes included a toasted teacake (absolutely massive), a cornish pasty and a sausage roll. Including an enormous pot of tea the whole bill came to just over £8 we thought there must have been a mistake as it was so little, but no. The two owners were extremely friendly and helpful telling us a little about the immediate area and of a nice walk round a lake. We would certainly have gone back had we been staying longer and I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely little cafe.
