The Cow On The Hill

Dined with a colleague. Fairly basic menu and limited wine list. However food was well cooked and presentation ok. The waitresses were very pleasant and obliging.

I had the daily breakfast which included a variety of cooked dishes, cereals, fruits, meats, cheeses, as well as tea, coffee, and juices. I also dined in the bar and found the food to be very good and reasonably priced.

We ate here on the Friday evening, Once the steaks came out from the kitchen, all the waitress were told it was a medium fillet/rump.. So the other people at our table were cutting into medium rare when they ordered medium well done as none of us new how it was cooked. View menu

We were staying over at the Holiday Inn and not wanting to travel back in to Bromsgrove opted for the on site Cow on the Hill, couldn't book through reception so booked on line. Prompt service, helpful and polite, clean surrounding. Food came pretty quick, good portions but a bit pricey as others have noted, I guess it's a matter of convenience. Overall happy.

Reserved table for four at 7:30, however had no record of reservation even though we had a reference. Ordered steak with jacket but turned up with chips. Sent it back only for it to come back 5 mins later to say they had no jacket potato. Sent it back again requesting potato mash. Eventually came back and as with the three other mains was served on a cold plate.

Nice enough place to eat. Smallish portions but enough for me. Had steaks. Very nice. The negatives? Automatic service charge on bill so I asked for another bill without. I prefer to choose. And when we did pay, we were stopped by the desk to check we werent scooting off without paying! Bacon at self service breakfast had long black hair around it. My partner and I were taken here by a friend. The menu is quite varied and the service good. However, we did feel it was rather expensive for what was ok food. My partner is vegetarian and had a burger which he was not keen on due to an odd taste.My friend and I had rump steak, which was served with chunky chips,a mushroom and a plum tomato. We opted for pepper sauce. The cost of this was £22 which we both felt was too much for the quality of ingredients. None of us fancied a dessert so we had a cheese board each. For £7.50 it was pretty mediocre, with bland cheese and very few crackers.

Not impressed food cold at dinner and in the morning . When we complained we were advised to get in earlier . We did the next day it was still cold Asked for the surcharge to be taken off and shunted between restaurant manager and reception still could not get it removed. Not impressed with room which should have been an executive . Couldn’t open the safe .plugs not working in bath room sink . Room cleaning left a lot to be desired. Staff needed training . Ordered a taxi it never came ..reception forgot to order .no heating in the room ....provided with a portable heater. Kings size bed was two singles put together .

We visited on 3 July with 2 other couples to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. The waiter dropped a g t over one of the guys we were with, which he just shrugged off, no apology, just asked if he wanted some more serviettes to mop up with. Service was very slow all night, the last couple to arrive were not offered a drink for around 20 minutes even after a drink had been dropped over him. Sourdough bread on the starter menu was not actually sourdough, the shortcrust pie turned out to be puff pastry the creamed spinach was like spinach soaked in milk. I asked one waitress for the bill, another young girl then appeared with the bill in her hand and very rudely said can you have the bill please... View menu
