"A pub should serve its staple fare such as fish and chips, hamburgers, pies, bangers and mash etc very, very well. We ordered hamburgers and chips at The Duke of York. The chips were excellent. The hamburgers were awful. They were served lukewarm at best, overpowered with bacon jam so that the predominant flavour was acid and sugar, and cheese nowhere to be seen there was that little of it. But the worst was the meat patty. So hard, it could be used as a curling stone. My friend described it as “indescribably tight”. I had no words so let my actions speak instead and left three-quarters of it on the plate. Demolished the chips though. We debated whether or not to mention anything when we struggled through our first mouthfuls of the hamburger but decided against it. As mentioned above, if you’re a pub owner/pub chef/pub manager, you KNOW what you’re serving to your customers so why make me the bad guy and point out how bad your burger is? GBP18.50 for this sub-standard meal, btw."

Had the signature dish the ribs they were just a plate of fat and gristle. Costing £25 I question how they can justify this!!!!

Dropped in for some lunch. Tasty starter of Chicken Wings and well cooked ribs which is the house speciality. Well kept Dark Star American Pale Ale. Will return.

Lovely pub, really nice girl behind the bar served me quickly. The drink was poured to perfection. I also ordered food and it was really good. Will be coming back here again

I paid £13 for a glass of wine. It was outrageous! I will never go back. Instead, I went to the bar opposite and paid the same amount for two glasses. Stop ripping off your customers!!! View menu

The pub has a pleasant atmosphere indoors and a great outdoor seating area where you can sip on drinks and unwind all day. I particularly loved the Summer Spritz menu. This is definitely the top spot for enjoying a beer in Tunbridge Wells!

Starting with the positives, the service was satisfactory. The menu had a good variety of options. However, we had to wait a long time for our food since there was only one chef working. The quality of the food was average and the prices reflected this. Overall, it delivered what was expected.

Came here to eat as we had a birthday voucher. The food was disappointing, l went for the signature dish of pork ribs, which looked like they had be microwaved and it certainly did not live up to its description. The burgers which others had again we dry, and not juicy when cooked fresh. The service at the bar was great. We were found a table outside. Good selection of drinks. Would visit again for a drink.

Went with the kids on a sunday afternoon. Ordered the chicken burger, chips, the chorizo scotch egg and the halloumi fries. Everything looked lovely but was completely poisoned by salt. It was so salty it couldn't be eaten, my lips were numb for hours afterwards. We told a staff member about the food and she gave us a quick sorry over her shoulder and nothing else was said. The food was honestly disgusting,

"Firstly I would like to say that this restaurant has just been refurbished, and it didn’t feel like an Italian restaurant, more like a cafe at the beach somewhere! It felt very sparse and most Italian restaurants I e been to have proper tablecloths on the table but these were plastic and I noticed one table it was tapped up underneath, in my opinion it needs to be made more warmly and have more of a family feel. The food was really nice, although I would advise anyone to make sure they double check their order as I chose chicken in a sauce really nice which came with vegetables but I also asked for a separate portion of potatoes, when it arrived I just had chicken with a few cut up potatoes and a very very small garnish of salad ! I mentioned this to the waitress who had taken our order and she said I know but the chef had given you extra salad !! Sorry but salad is not vegetables , it clearly said on the menu it came with vegetables. Having said about the above issue, the meals we all had were nice and the staff gave us a very warm welcome and because of the blip they said we could have a free pudding…..not sure if we all did or it was just mine but I never see the bill as we were treated to this. To finish the evening off we were given a lovely limoncello shot. We would definitely go back. Thankyou for a lovely evening in your restaurant"
