"Outstanding! What an unexpected yet wonderfully pleasant experience this turned out to be. The staff were exceptional, and the food was fantastic. The garden is beautifully landscaped, creating a lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend the Moroccan lamb filo pastry pie with feta and olive salad (£14) and the curried lentil puff pastry pie with chickpea salad (£13)—both were absolutely delicious and worth the trip on their own. Plus, pints are under a fiver, including a locally produced lager! The chips are incredible too! All the staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable, attentive, and efficient. It’s clear a lot of thought went into creating this charming and comfortable outdoor space. By far, it’s the best beer garden I’ve been to in ages. I spent a delightful afternoon here after a long walk in the stunning surrounding countryside. Definitely worth a visit. I’ll be back for sure. Thank you! I truly couldn't find anything to fault during our visit."

Very nice afternoon in the garden. Had Burger and fries. Was £14. Beer was around £4.30 a pint for long man. Food was very good though and gardens have been done nicely with an outside grill.

visited on Friday afternoon (8/4/2022). the recently updated bar area is now the restaurant with table service. the lunch was very good with a good pub menu. there is a good selection of local and gastronomy on the pumps. the new outdoor bar and kitchen will work well in the summer months with the usual walkers of butts browser and the down there. was nice to talk to the owner about lunch, adding a personal note.

I had the best non-alcoholic beer I've ever tasted in the lovely pub gardens, where I relaxed under grapevines and watched horses grazing nearby. The staff were all friendly and efficient. The menu is impressive, featuring a wide selection of local beers, wines, and spirits, as well as cocktails made with homemade syrups. It’s a fantastic stop for hikers, and I would definitely come back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I visited this pub four years ago, and I must say it has been completely transformed under new management, so I've decided to delete my old review. The pub has been redesigned both inside and out. The interior now has a modern and airy feel, and there’s a large marquee set up in the garden. The food is imaginative and excellent, although we felt that a bit more creativity was put into the appetizers compared to the main courses. The portions are generous, leaving us no room for dessert. There’s a fantastic selection of craft ales and apple wine, along with a well-curated wine list. The pub has gained quite a following, so booking a table is essential. The staff were also lovely and friendly. View menu

Never judge a book by it's cover and that is certainly the case with The Eight Bells pub. What looks like an unassuming pub, along a country road, in a tiny village, turned out to be one of the best culinary experiences I've had for a long time. The menu will leave you spoilt for choice. We opted for the stuffed chicken and the haddock pie, which was one of the specials. As well as having the scotch egg for starters. My Lord, all of it was amazing, great produce used throughout, large portions and just great flavours. The staff are so friendly and attentive and we had the pleasure of meeting Phil, the owner, who made the experience even more enjoyable and topped off a great experience. Would...

On June 5, 2022, we visited The Eight for the first time and ended up returning three more times. It truly exemplifies what a pub should be—friendly staff, a welcoming atmosphere, and delicious pub food. The menu is small, which is a good sign of locally sourced ingredients, and the chef skillfully prepares everything to perfection. He even accommodated a special dietary request from someone in our group by creating a dish that wasn't on the menu. It was clear that ensuring we had a great meal and a pleasant experience was a top priority for them, a quality that is often lacking in other pubs and restaurants. They even had tasty treats for our new puppy, so our dog enjoyed the outing as well...

"I have been dining many times at The Royal Indian Restaurant in Hailsham since 2021 I want to congratulate the owner, Viv Samuel his brilliant staff team for their superb curry house. I can truly say that I've never been dissapointed by The Royal, it's an exceptional restaurant that I've recommended to many friends. I've hosted a Christmas Party for over 20 guests there took over the restaurant for my birthday last year. Both occasions were excellent, my guests had a really great time I have lovely memories of both events. Viv is always on hand to give you a great welcome has that ability to make every guest feel valued special. The restaurant is most attractively laid out with a warm ambience spotlessly clean, creating a really lovely dining experience. The menu has been thoughtfully created incorporating some unusual recipes from his family in Southern India. Viv his staff team are knowlegeable about their cuisine dishes can be altered to suit their guests individual tastes. The Royal also offers an excellent range of wines some lovely cocktails liqueur coffees. If you have spare room after your main courses, Viv also has some delicious puddings. I would be very surprised if you did not enjoy your dining experience at The Royal. Many of Viv's guests come to his restaurant on a regular basis become old friends. Highly satisfied customers, Val Ian from Polegate."
