"We drove up from the South Midlands with the intention of arriving at this restaurant at a reasonable time for dinner, as we had dined here before. We arrived at 8:22 PM and as we approached the bar, we overheard the bartender telling the couple in front of us that the kitchen was already closed. It was a Monday evening, but if they have decided to close early in the week, it would be best if they update this information on their website. We decided to skip dining at this restaurant and instead stopped at the next M6 exit, as it is also a Robinsons establishment. We will be avoiding Robinsons establishments in the future."

Very nice looking pub/restaurant located in village centre. Nicely decorated inside which provides a relaxing atmosphere. Prices of drinks are a little on the high side.

Registered my car on arrival but a month later received a parking fine. I. Paid for drinks by card so I am contesting the fine with proof of purchases. I am the second one in our party to receive a fine for that night.

We enjoyed a lovely atmosphere for Sunday lunch with our adult daughter. The service was friendly and attentive. The Sunday roast was good, although not the absolute best I've ever had. We would definitely recommend and return to this restaurant. View menu

I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The food was terrible, the service was terrible, and to top it off, there was a hair in my food and my chips were cold. The gammon was fatty and tasted bad. The server, a young girl, was very slow and it took us 15 minutes to pay the bill.

Went for a two course sunday roast as a couple. Wasn’t a massive portion, only had two potatoes each which were tough like they’d been reheated. Some of the veg was undercooked and therefore crunchy/hard and the gravy was very watery and therefore a bit tasteless. The restaurant inside is nice with a nice atmosphere and the desserts were of a good size, just a shame about the main dinner

Very welcoming staff. Food overpriced and not attractive looking. Salmon fishcakes excellent. Pate covered in a purple mess. Looked awful. Turkey roast had no stuffing or chipolata sausage. Ham egg and chips , ham had fat round edges. Chips were wedges not chips. Overpriced unattractive food. Toilets very cramped. Accessible toilet hard to find. 3 steps into conservatory. Best avoided as poor value. View menu

We stopped here for lunch on our way back from the Lake District to London and had a delicious meal a theatrical hanging halloumi and Mediterranean vegetable kebab and sausage and mash followed by sticky toffee pudding with generous sauce and in my children's words, the best chocolate brownie they've ever tasted! Our waitress, Sarah, was delightful, looking after us so well! We left feeling satisfied and refreshed.

Outstanding service and hospitality was given to me by Martin Barnes, proprietor of the George and Dragon last week. Unfortunately I found myself at the wrong George and Dragon prior to a family funeral in Cheshire. Martin tried to get me a taxi to the correct village, well to the north. When this failed he grabbed his car keys and unhesitatingly drove me north, just in time for the funeral. I’m so grateful and commend Martin for his support. I fully intend to return with my family and enjoy more of his hospitality.

"I’ve never been before, we came yesterday for family dinner looking forward to a roast lunch dinner. The menu only had a choice of lamb or beef, not liking beef the choice for me was lamb. Within minutes a lady came to advise the lamb “had just sold out” I said I didn’t like beef but no other option was given and I therefore had to have the beef. The meal arrived the Yorkshire’s were not risen and burned. The vegetables were very nice the beef was shaped like a block mine was dry and over cooked. My husband had poured gravy all over his so he couldn’t tell but I don’t like a lot of gravy on my food and I could tell I gave my beef to him. We ordered a burger/cheese/bacon meal for our 12 year old, I made it really clear to the young girl to plead only out cheese/bacon/burger on and no healthy stuff no onions nothing she laughed and said she has a brother who is the same so understands we ordered the adult version as it said the children’s was for 10 years and under. My sons burger arrived with a load of crispy onions lettuce and tomatoes everything we had asked NOT to be added, I took the food off but he wouldn’t touch it having seen the salad was on it! After eating my main it was a massive disappointment to see the man behind us being served a roast lamb dinner when I was told it had all sold out!!!! I had ordered fruit crumble this was a massive portion in a bowl the crumble topping was nice but the fruit underneath tasted like melted jam rather than just gently cooked fresh fruit there was more fruit sauce than fruit making it quite sloppy I had a couple of mouthfuls and left it."
