"Today on our way back from the Peak District we decided to pop into the green dragon, leek. We have eaten here before and today was another very pleasant meal, for a Tuesday dinner time the pub was very busy, we managed to get a...table pretty much straight away. I used the app to order and the drinks came within minutes and the food came out fresh and within good time. Staff were friendly, lots of people around clearing tables ready for the next customer and as far as weatherspoons pubs go this is definitely one of the better ones, cheap and cheerful as always Will be back again soon"

Called with my wife, daughter and granddaughter for lunch. Food excellent. Floor show led by master of ceremonies James, also excellent. Will be back in a couple of weeks.

A favourite of ours which we have visited regularly food is quite nice but portion sizes and quality do vary depending on what chef is in the kitchen. Staff are quite friendly. Prices are reasonable and not stupidly high even though they have raised. If...you go in the winter though wear a big jumper it’s freezing.

my eating was introduced to me by a strange looking emo man, please consider that his personal hygiene was terrible! he slept on toast. when he delivered my barely cooked meal, he did not speak. I don't know if this is a labour policy or if it has a mute kink, but I found this quite unprofessional and at the bottom right rude. I'm not gonna get back to the scran!

Called in for lunch, place was very quiet , surprised how spacious the place was once inside. I chose fish and chips from menu which included alcoholic drink, fantastic value and when the meal arrived soon after the quality and quantity was excellent. My wife...chose baked potato and tuna Mayo again excellent. On this visit experience we would return and recommend.

Awful last night my son with his girlfriend and friend went for a meal here.. They ID'd all three of them on entry, they were sitting eating their meal and my son was once again asked for ID. The woman then said she needed more...light and took the ID to a bright area, she then returned and asked to see his bank card. Quite a few customers told my son how unnecessary it was. My son is 28, his girlfriend 21 and friend 28.

eclectic! at 8:50 o'clock. order drinks and eat on the app! drinks arrived at 9:05 o'clock. no problem. eating came. followed by manager. she refused to let us eat it. she said she'll wrap it up for us. as children after 9 o'clock not allowed. it then took them another 20th it is to box food. in which time we could have eaten our food! now on the website, app or anywhere in the pub do that there is no under 18 after 9pm! complete shower of sh*t

Me and my friends, wanted to go to spoons for a meal whilst we had a lunch break at work around the corner, we went in and sat in a big group, and they were watching us the whole time as we had our sons...there and they were judging them. Horrible service table was left with plates and drinks on it. we asked them to move it but it still took them 10 minutes. one of us moved it. and they kicked off and kicked us out not allowing us to have food. we tried to sit outside but they still didn’t allow it. don’t go to weather spoons unless you like being treated like sh*t

"Our room faced the front of the hotel, and while the village was quiet with only two pubs and a small corner store, it seemed to be a shortcut for heavy vehicles speeding downhill at night, with headlights constantly illuminating our room. We also found out that the hotel closes in the evening if it's not busy, and the front door may be locked as early as 10 PM, requiring a code for re-entry. The internet service was poor; even standing just outside the front door, I had no reception and couldn't call the emergency numbers posted there. It appears that the quality of the rooms varies significantly, with some having been upgraded while others are less desirable, including our own. When we questioned our bill because we didn't think the room was worth £140, we were told that since we had booked through Charming Escapes, we should take it up with them, as the hotel receives only a fraction of what we paid. This made us feel like second-class guests, especially since it seemed we were stuck in a low-quality room. The standard rate for a double room is £90, and if I were to rate our experience like on the TV show "Four in a Bed," I would say £50 a night would have been generous. Previous reviews also mentioned an issue with the door handle and the ability to lock the room, which had not been fixed. If you’re just looking for a place to dry off your hiking boots, this hotel might suffice, but I wouldn't recommend staying here again. It has a lot of potential, and thankfully, we had a wonderful evening at The Devonshire Arms just across the street—it felt like a whole different experience. It seems the staff at Charles Cotton have simply given up."
