"Rude moronic staff, place smelt like the bottom of a bin. Having proved part of our group were the right age, producing driving licences to prove it, the group of weird odd looking staff continued to stare at us, making one or two feel quite uncomfortable. The place has always plied their silly little rules with too much enthusiasm making it a definite place to avoid or place of very last resort as it was for us! Shame as the beers decent. Must doo better lads eh!"

Went to a comedy night. Fab night. Great atmosphere. Side splitting.tge pub is an old building full of character. Serves hot drinks.

Only one thing to say, a joke. Went into day. Beer was less than standard. Didn't have food, but manager and staff need to smile more.

Very nice pub. Good selection of beer, very nice atmosphere. Nice evening with new friends. I can't say anything about the food, we just drank beer View menu

So annoyed at the no hat/CCTV, policy in place at a once friendly and welcoming pub. This is certainly the case no more. I will go elsewhere in future.

If you like televisions in a pub, then The Horse Plough will suit you well a pleasant ambience and a good range of beers. Personally the TVs ruined it for me, and I won't be visiting again.

Didn't have food just a few drinks, great atmosphere, pleasant staff, good traditional pub, not many of these around nowadays, well worth a visit, food looks good but as I said it was just evening drinks for us ... View menu

I would have liked to rate this place higher because we do bring our (large) dog in and they're always really nice about it but there's still loads of pictures of food and menus when you look this place up and they don't serve food at the moment so we felt a bit mislead.

This brewery owned establishment has become a beer drinkers pub now, and there's a wide range of locally brewed ales available. They don't appear to do food anymore apart from scotch eggs. And it has a shabby feel not helped by all the big dogs they let in. Some may like the country pub feel with dogs as welcome as people but this is not the place to come if you want a stylish night out.

"I'll start with the positives. The interaction I had on Facebook to book a table, and then change the booking, was very positive. The two young waitresses who served us were great. The pub is shabby with rubbish and cigarette butts scattered outside the door...and a smell of smoke in the doorway. The décor is tired and tatty, and the bench seat in the restaurant area has a big split in it. The floor of the restaurant had bits of food and other rubbish on it. The salt and pepper and vinegar bottle didn't look like they'd been cleaned for a few days. The food was uninspiring, and mostly overcooked. The Yorkshire puddings were burnt black and were mostly inedible (when we commented on this, the waitress said she was too scared of the chef to say anything to him). The roast potatoes were hard and tough. The vegetables (not enough for 6 of us from one dish) were not great and the cauliflower cheese was the most uninspiring I've had for a long time. The lamb was OK, but that's all I can say about it. The whole menu (apart from a goat's cheese salad) was dull and unimaginative, even allowing for the fact that for Sunday lunch on Mother's Day most people want roasts. We didn't bother staying to have desserts. I thought from the TripAdvisor reviews that we were going to a gastropub, or a pub with a super restaurant. It was like having a meal in a pub 30 years ago, which is fine if that's what you want. It was a dreadful experience and not at all the way we wanted to celebrate my son's birthday and Mother's Day. We will not go back again."
