"What a welcoming place, ushered into the snug lounge because one of our party was late. They can read the room, a sign of nuanced experienced staff. The lamb dish was succulent and so tasty, cod in batter, batter was perfect and good chunky chips. There were homemade specials on too. Their menu is not extensive but give it a try for a tasty independent choice. This was on one of the most inclement days."

This restaurant is hidden away, what a great find. The menu is limited but great. Staff helpful and ideal for a quiet night out.

I went to this restaurant for a work event. The fish was delicious and tasted very fresh. They had a great variety of beer and cider available on tap.

I haven't been in a while and it was great to come back. The food was delicious. We enjoyed some appetizers in the garden before trying a special dish and a main course. View menu

What a little gem not far from the motorway but set in beautiful countryside. Gorgeous home cooked food, great service. The nicest home cooked pie I've had in a very long time. Will definitely be back

Filthy, dirty pub, with no atmosphere and a nasty landlord who just kept interrupting our conversation, for no reason. Chairs and table were dirty and the carpet filthy. And come payment time landlord wanted cash!!

I went to Iron Duke for little snack and had the most delicious mussels! They were perfectly cooked with scrumpy garlic herb bread- thank you Natalia. Sandra was the hostess with the mostess, warm friendly smile. Will definitely be back! View menu

This restaurant is simply charming! The staff, owners, and food are all exceptional, and the Champagne menus are beautifully curated. I couldn't have asked for a better experience tonight. I will definitely be returning again and again. This place is truly the best kept secret of North Hampshire and Berkshire.

Pleased to see Matthew back! Lovely atmosphere with very festive Dickensian Christmas decorations, warm and welcoming. The food was exceptionally well presented and everything was cooked and prepared well. After the meal the adults were given a decorated bottle of home made licqueur and the children were given boxed fudge, what a lovely finish to a very enjoyable experience. First class.

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
