"Visited this pub with 7 work colleagues. We were warmly welcomed and the staff couldn’t do enough to help you. There is parking directly outside the pub in a public Carpark which is free. I ordered the following: Crab cakes- nicely cooked but slightly bland....A good size salad did accompany it though. Smoked sausage and mash- the sausages were ok, mash average and the gravy was very watery. Sticky toffee pudding- average Overall- I would definitely come back for a drink and the nice atmosphere but would give the food a miss. This was the general consensus of all my work colleagues. There was a quiz on the evening we visited but did not stay to partake."

We popped into the Kings Arms for pre dinner drinks. It was a good sized pub with a couple of bars and plenty of staff. They were, friendly, welcoming and efficient. The pub had a good selection of reasonably priced drinks and plenty of free...parking nearby. View menu

we had a great dinner with friends today. the staff was friendly, friendly and attentive. our food was delicious. we didn't have to wait long, but that was perfect between the curses. the lamb was tender and veg, kartoffel and gravy a perfect companion....House red went well with the lamb.

Popped in for lunch and can say the service and food was excellent, especially well done to the waitresses in the garden they did a great job. The goats cheese was fab and the fish finger sandwich was excellent as well. Lovely beer garden, clean...and presented well , when in area will for sure call in again.

Had one of many delicious meals here -amazing roast this time but often come in for pizzas too! Friendly, welcoming manager who couldn’t do enough for us and made us feel incredibly comfortable bringing the family which is refreshing! It’s honestly my favourite place to...come and eat or for drinks. Definitely recommend and will back soon! View menu

we came here with our children for a Sunday roast and will definitely be back. the pub itself is a cozy, traditional English pub with a wonderful atmosphere. the personal was attentive and in good spirit. great selection of drinks. the frying was absolute. charming and was very enjoyed by me and my children who cleared their teller. puddings were also great! Many thanks for a wonderful afternoon we cannot wait to come back! highly recommended.

Popped in today for a Sunday lunch. I am struggling to find the words to describe how bad the food was. The roast potatoes were soft and tasteless, the carrots were bland and the cabbage watery. And as for the lambshank it fell off...the bone as it should but it was burnt on the outside! The mange tout were fine! The Yorkshire pud felt as if it had been hanging around for hours and this was 12pm!! But the piece de resistance was the gravy; slightly coloured water would be a better description. It was vile. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
