"Dining at The Manor was once a real treat. It had beautiful surroundings, well dressed tables with tablecloths, the full works, even a pianist in the evenings. It now looks like it is crammed to the maximum with small square tables no cloths lined up like a school canteen or a large Nando’s. A whole fleet of them. A service bar at the side taking up unnecessary room. The beautiful wood paneling is still there, but now hidden and trashed by the massed tables, its whole atmosphere ripped away. BUT, we thought, perhaps the food and service would recompense. I had scallops with pork belly. The ubiquitous small squares of pork with slightly warm scallops, no flavour at all. My husband had pressed foie gras about the size of a 50p and unrecognizable as foie gras , wrapped in ‘pulled’ duck. Dry and tasteless. I didn’t dare risk lamb or beef as I guessed it would be below par for the prices and nothing I saw appealed, so for the first time in my decades of dining out, I tried the Wagyu beef burger – I know – I almost hid under the table when it arrived. But we had Wagyu steaks so… It was dreadful. No flavour to the burger and so thick and hard in places, it was difficult to cut it be interested to know just how much of the burger was Wagyu . Skinny chips were mediocre and went stale within minutes. My husband thankfully, had something decent for his main the hake, but again, nothing special and exorbitant at £28, but I accept fish is booming in price. The only decent thing was the 250cl glass of wine, an Australian chardonnay but then it should be, costing £15. £9.99 a bottle at Drink Supermarket – so is that at least a £35 plus profit on each bottle? Couldn’t find anything on the dessert menu which was worth risking another disappointment. Service was, to say the best, sketchy, slow and confused, but most were young and obviously still learning the trade so some room for understanding. We were charged for three tomato juices instead of two, corrected when pointed out, and we seemed to wait an age for plates to be taken away. A peculiar portion of three small pieces of bread for a table of two and the usual meagre portions of butter – in foil. I see no hope for this place except for people getting a DB&B deal who have no interest in good food or have more money than taste. The last time we visited before this latest incarnation of poor Eastwell was around 8 years ago. Unless a new owner takes over, we won’t be back."

Just had very disappointing afternoon tea experience at Eastwell Manor. Reservation could not be found or explained. Waited over an hour to eventually be seated. Chipped cup, no spoons. Not enough milk and no one to ask. Below average sandwiches and cakes. But scones were tasty. Called reservations on return home and was put through to EM desk and they could only apologise. The breakfast was raved about by most people we asked in the area. Disappointing is a generous term for the experience we had in the restaurant. 30 minute queue because the empty tables weren't cleaned when people left due to staff shortages (on the weekend! , and an hour wait for food once we had ordered. Toast arrived cold and burnt, cooked food arrived cold and overcooked. What a shambles of a place!

The service was awful. We waited an hour for our appetizers, and 45 minutes later our empty plates were still on the table. I had to ask a server to take them away. We were not offered another drink, so we had to settle for the water on the table. After waiting for half an hour for our desserts, we decided to just leave without them. It was my husband's birthday, and we will not be coming back to this restaurant again.

I have recently just had a spa break at Eastwell manor, and luckily enough my friend and i are regulars! We have seen lots of changes during the years of our visits esp with staffing and the inconsistence of good customer service, but just lately the staff have been fab! A few in particular that stand out are Gary and Chris who work so hard in the restaurant( Manor House) and are so professional and always give great customer service! Well done! And Olivia on reception in the spa...i was so impressed with these 3! An asset to your company! Great work and Thank you. View menu

This restaurant is housed in a beautiful old manor with stunning grounds, but unfortunately that's where the positives end. We arrived for Sunday lunch 10 minutes early for our 2:15 booking, only to be told to wait in the bar because they were busy. After being seated an hour late, we were informed that the starter we wanted had run out. Despite speaking to the manager, the overall experience was disappointing and I can't recommend this place. The food was decent, but it couldn't make up for the lack of hospitality. It may be a good idea for the restaurant to bring in a consultant to address these issues.

My husband and i went to The Manor today for lunch. Whilst the surroundings are stunning and the food quality was good, there are a few things that we feel need attention. £20 for a foie gras starter for the size it was we felt was over priced. I'm gluten free and the waiter wasnt sure that the starter contained GF bread, although he did offer to go and check, i think its important to know what's on the plate you're about to serve. There seemed to be a long wait for everything, drinks, food and had to ask to order. Little things like no spoons offered with sauce and a distinct lack of ambience made us question if we'll go back here given the price point.

"Our excitement to see this café open allowed us an opportunity for some needed refreshment . Oh a cup of tea and a slice of cake or a little available small snack was what we needed . We were told by an employee sit down we come to you , so we did .. Another staff member standing behind the counter looked over and frumpy look called the cook who had the same frumpy look and went back to cooking , We : waited , waited , waited , waited and saw the frumpy counter woman still in the same spot , we waited and waited then left , maybe she was glued to the floor . We looked left and saw a pub named the Pheasant, oh drink and food , renewed enthusiasm and excitement we entered to staff who couldn 't do enough, so professional and warrants praise and a revisit , after a while we left and waited outside for our taxi , looking over we saw the cafe closed , ahhhhh it all came together and understanding that we was an inconvenience to the café as they was closing in half an hour after our visit , How long would it have taken to make a cup of tea for two? , us drink it , then how long would it have taken them to wash up the cups ? , they still would have twenty minutes for the woman to be unglued, our first impressions were of a cafe with many seats and a welcoming atmosphere, the woman employee sitting at the front table working was professional and welcoming the tables were clean and we kept our excitement as we waited , our excitement and enthusiasm faded, we left happily for the woman glued to the floor , we are appreciating the effort of the lady at the table who was seriously let down by the others , thank you for your efforts , apart from her professional customer service skills our Eureka moment to see the café open wasn 't to last , sorry to the staff member at the table I 'm very sure the service we had wouldn 't have been what you would have given , this review seems strong in tone but it 's our experience in here that day.. . I am not now able to show enthusiasm for another visit , I would have loved having that day and opportunity to empty my wallet a little and a little bit more on what would have been another visit , sorry no Eureka moment taken away that day."
