The Old Plough Chippy

This chippy is a hidden gem. They have delicious gluten-free fish and chips. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is also very clean and well-organized.

I was recommended by a friend and am extremely pleased I tried them. Covid aware. Great staff, very friendly. Freshly cooked fish with great fish and mushy peas, who could ask for more? I will be back on my next trip home.

We tried this chippy down to reviews and it lived up to its reputation. Everything was fresh, beautiful tasty fish that actually tasted like fish! Crisp, dry chips and excellent, friendly service. This will now be top of our list for chippy tea!

Excellent fresh chunky fish , cooked to perfection.Chips always fresh and hot.Staff are always very pleasant.Very clean counter and shop. They should be nominated for chippy of the year. I have trying for several years for the introduction of battered haggis , no joy yet !

The staff at this restaurant were extremely friendly and welcoming, the food quality was outstanding (the best fries I've had in years), and as someone with celiac disease, I didn't feel like a burden when ordering. We can't wait for our next visit so my wife can try the delicious-looking pies and black pudding fritters.

Drove past this chippy on many occasions, couldn’t wait to try. Called on my way home from work yesterday. Great portion sizes. I hate leaving negative reviews, so I am sorry. But the food is vile. Soggy chips, the home made cheese and onion pie, was tasteless. My husband, didn’t even eat it, and he eats anything. Would go again

I recently won a contest at The Plough Chippy, which included Fish, chips, sides, and drinks for four people. The service from the staff was outstanding, with top-notch customer service and a warm welcome. The food was truly of the highest quality and I can confidently say it is the best chippy in the area. The dishes were beautifully prepared, with generous portions and all tasted wonderful. Thank you, Plough Chippy, for an amazing experience. I highly recommend it.

The best chippy, is quite a statement and it may or may not be but its pretty close. I have been here a few times and as yet have never had a bad experience. They have an excellent choice of homemade meat pie, cheese and onion pie, and rag pudding. Always a decent potion and they have a children's menu too. This is a takeaway only, no seating. There is an ample carpark at the rear for customers. This can get busy though at peak times. The fish I've had was nice size, nicely battered and was white throughout., nice and fresh. If you ever fancy a chippy dinner or tea and are nearby I wholeheartedly recommend this place.
