"we set ourselves, a group of four, in the middle of an icey hagelstorm ende april, and were immediately met with a warm welcome and a warm atmosphere in the poet laureate. what a pub. eating was exquisite, the drink was excellent, and the service was professional and attentive, but friendly and personal. After we had eaten, we were surprised, but pleased to be asked by the waitress what one of our party had thought of the squid as it was a new product on the menu, and the first night at which it was served, and the cook wanted our honest feedback. very courageous, so publicly asking such a question, but shows how much they want everything to be right and that was it. in spaten! a good selection on the menu, with some pub classics (when with a twist, a little better) mixed with some original aligning. after three curses and many drinks it was a joy to pay the bill that was very good for the wonderful evening we had."

We went for lunch and what a treat! Hake wrapped in Parma ham. The others had a baguette and loved theirs. Looked after well.

Had an excellent lunch at The Poet on Saturday. Fantastically relaxed atmosphere,and welcoming staff. The perfect place to while away the hours on a cosy afternoon.

We always have delicious food here and amazing service tooo. And thank you for being so sweet caring with my son when he tripped over outside. Plasters were a godsend. AJ x

We had a lovely meal at the poet x all fresh and delicious food was piping hot and we had very good service x very homely and friendly pub x love the new decor too x thank you we will definitely be back

We have chosen to introduce our friends in Dorset life to the poet laureate. food and service excellent. menu may appear limited, but daily options had good alternatives. also employees with different requirements. enjoy every cure, including dover sole, steak and lamb. very pleased this place has a new leasing contract and wishes him every success. will definitely make regular visits.
