"I went into The Press Room expecting the outstanding and positive service they always proudly advertise and was left disappointed and disgusted, clearly this fantastic service they speak of is something they preach but do not practise. The service was below what I expect from any coffee shop, unenthusiastic and unconfident people take your order with no sense of happiness or desire to please customers. I was barely looked at let alone spoken to in a kind manner. I ordered a cappuccino, reluctantly as the price was somewhat expensive, and was immediately shocked by how watery and foul tasting it was. Definitely wasn’t worth the money. The atmosphere is poor and forgettable, there is no personality or reason to keep this place in mind for future visits and it’s definitely not worth your money. I wouldn’t recommend."

I've always loved The Press Room and the staff work so hard especially during the busy EOTHO times. The host with red hair completes four peoples jobs at once and it is constant work. Also delicious food and coffee thank you all so much!

This café is amazing, with consistently friendly staff and top-notch coffee. Unfortunately, they have been experiencing WiFi issues for the past four weeks, making it difficult to work from here. I can imagine it must be frustrating for both customers and staff. Hopefully, the issue gets resolved soon! View menu

There were hardly any seats to be had on this very grey November weekday so thought it must be good and I’d give it a try. Coffee was very underwhelming I’m sorry to say (Americano) but the service was nice and food looked good. They could do with. A bigger premises; it was friendly and clearly popular but it was kind of packed in there!

I come to this restaurant every week and generally have a good time. The ambiance is nice, the service is good, and the tea is tasty. I occasionally order a croissant, but the last two out of three times it has been dry, as if it's old. It would be helpful if the staff could pay more attention to this and remove items that are past their prime, especially considering their prices.

Really friendly and attentive staff. The coffee and food/pastries are always really nice and unlike a lot of cafes when they're busy, the staff somehow keep the tables consistently neat and tidy no matter how many customers are in the building. The interior has a good amount of power sockets for a laptop worker such as myself, and I've found it's a great place to sit down and work if you need a place to focus. Would argue it's the best cafe in Surbiton, so fully recommend! View menu

I last visited the Press Room café about three years ago and recently went back to enjoy my experience once again. The café, one of over 30 in this caffeine-filled suburb, has a great atmosphere with stools by the window perfect for people-watching. The tables have been rearranged, now offering more smaller tables for two instead of the large shared "kitchen tables" that were originally there when it opened 10 years ago. The perspex barriers at the counter are gone, and the café has recently changed owners. However, the quality remains high and the café feels confident and well-established. The staff, as always, play a key role in the welcoming vibe of the place. They are friendly, cheerful,...

I visit The Press Room regularly for take away coffee and to pop in for a cake whilst I'm doing some work. The staff are so welcoming, explaining what's available and how to check in on their track and trace system. It's a small cafe so they have a system where they like you to wait and ensure others are seated so there aren't too many people walking around. The food selection is limited some toasted brioche buns, pastries and cakes. But it's definitely a case of quality over quantity. The brioche toasted buns are yummy as are the cakes! Their coffee is fantastic, I also enjoy their smoothies as a refreshing change. As I work here regularly they really don't mind if you sit in for a few hour...

"Obon: a petit Japanese udon restaurant that supplies a sense of Japan that cannot be found anywhere else in the whole of the Uk. (5 stars) Location: Obon is located close to the heart of Kingston but the road it’s on is considerably quieter. You must make sure to have a basic knowledge of Kingston in order to find an area to park and to also make sure you leave yourself enough time, taking the unpredictability of the traffic into acount. Even on a week day there can be traffic jams which can put a halt to your plans and due to the small amount of customers Obon can take its important that you not only book but make sure that you arrive at the agreed booking time. With this being said the staff are all lovely so if you are running late, a quick call is all that is required to just give Obon a chance to understand your position. The food: The array of exquisitely prepared sashimi will be sure to create the sensation that you are in a top Japanese restaurant in japan and the flavour of the fish does not fail to match expectations, which will be very high after just one glance at your meal. The fish is delicately seasoned and practically melts on your tongue, this causes a lovely sensation and is genuinely the finest sushi I have tasted in the uk and even matches a lot of the top restaurants in japan. On top of just the traditional types of sushi, which to many is maki rolls Obon also offers many other delicious options such as soft shell crab and even Unagi don, which I must highly recommend due to it consistently being the highlight of my meal. For those of you that were interested in the quality of the basic Japanese dishes such as miso soup or edamame they do not fail to leave you in grand anticipation for what is to come for they are, simply speaking, incredibly good. The miso, in my opinion, is truly remarkable and creates a lasting feeling of warmth throughout your entire body, on top of that it is far superior to other miso’s that I have tasted in all other areas of the world. Overall the quality of the food is something you would expect from a world famous Michelin star restaurant and if you want Japanese food it’s the only place I can recommend. The Restaurant: The restaurant itself is small but authentic in nature and because it only has a enough tables to host around 20 people at the most, the service is exceptionally good and your food is always out quickly so you will not be left hungry for very long. The staff are kind and friendly. And it’s always an enjoyable experience being waves goodbye as you leave the restaurant. You’re also able to watch as they prepare the food, which for some could be entertaining. There are Japanese photos scattered around the room and this further creates an authentic feel. The atmosphere is not lively but it is a restaurant and not a bar so is an ideal location if you are wanting high quality food. With this being said it is still a great place to go with friends and I consistently am able to have a great time no matter the occasion. Price: Obviously, the price of the food is always an important topic to come to and despite the cost of the sushi being slightly higher than you may expect from a small restaurant in Kingston, I would have to say that for the quality of the food it is ultimately a bargain. For three people, you would be spending around £100 so it isn’t cheap but you can go for cheaper types of food such as udon, which is still amazing quality and won’t set you back as much money. Overall: Obon is still my favourite restaurant in the whole of the Uk and is perfect for a special occasion but it isn’t the sort of place you’d go for a casual night out. The food is beyond incredible and thus they can cater for both children and adults by meeting every bodies needs. For anybody that enjoys sushi, I would urge you to give it a go, you won’t regret it"
