"we love this place, fab vibe, coffee to die for, best pina colada smoothie (my son loves the ananas shaped glass it comes in chocolate milkshake for miles. five star customer service and the whole freky bean team are passionate about eating, drinking and more. very recommended for breakfast, cakes and snacks and the only place I can finally get my ultimate breakfast sky on a teller the French canadier, the French toast stack with smokey speck and maple syrup! it is also fantastic that they can visit their well pampered dog as tables and sitting outside and beautiful shops close by. the freche bohnenteam is not only passionate about what they do, but supports the local community from other shops to the amazing Friday market and once in the month also the Sunday market, the freche bean is a sunshine in our amazing changing city!"

"five star service is not exactly what they expect when entering the cheese yard restaurant, but it is very true, it is a very casual place and very secret, it is not a pub more of a super market caffe, although it leads down a land road that leads to nowhere apart from beautiful landscape walks and an amazing outsight on the glasston torbury. it is definitiw a hidden gem and eating in the offer is like her mother does, really crispy kartoffels or chips and generous portions, perfect place to meet family and friends for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tee with a selection of amazing cakes. I had also mentioned dog friendly and I mean that so much fuss was made from my 2 puggies that they felt like celebrities. I can't wait to come back."

"First night of a long weekend in Rode looking after a couple of chocolate Labradors, we were able to sit and eat without the dogs being a problem. Me and my life like real ale and they had a couple of choices from Butcombe brewery, the ale was kept and served well. The menu was great and they helped my wife who is dairy free and marked down all of the items on the menu that were, or could be made, dairy free, great service! When our food came it was lovely, well presented and tasted awesome. They are actually booked out most days so we were lucky to get in, we tried to book for Sunday lunch which they managed to squeeze us in, so we are looking forward to going back for this. Highly recommended but try to book your table in advance by a few days at least so that you’re not disappointed."

"A little bit run down in places but that seems to be Wookey Hole in general. Popped in for a cup of tea after some caving and the service was great. They weren't serving food at the time but as we had mentioned cake, they were very accommodating and happy to serve us something from the pudding menu. Good selection of old games to play while sitting there. (Probably for kids but we are big kids, and who doesn't love Connect 4)"

"Not for families or vegan/vegetarians. We arrived early as our kids eat around 5pm. We came here based on reviews but really wish we hadn’t. The atmosphere is very claustrophobic. If there is even 1 loud group the whole area fills with the noise. With kids this was far from ideal and we had to move due to the language from a certain group (obviously not the restaurants fault). The food however took a very long time to arrive. I had to give my kids snacks and then chase the waiters to find out how much longer we needed to wait. The food looked great. But the vegetarian steak was far too salty and so we didn’t even eat it. The kids pizza was rock hard and my son was unable to bite into it. My burger was soggy. Overall it was a poor experience. The price I find very top end. I have been to many London restaurants and never seen a burger priced so highly. When the bill came we were overcharged too, so that had to be amended. Definitely not worth the money. It’s a shame as the owner seemed lovely."

"I went with friends to the Royal Oak, Walton on Friday 11th August. When we arrived, we gave the name of the person who had booked the table. The waitress had no reservation for us, despite booking several weeks earlier, and having received confirmation. It was not busy, so a table was found for us. We purchased drinks, and sat at our table. The waitress brought the menus and left us to browse the menu. Several minutes later the waitress returned for our orders. We gave our orders, and the waitress looked confused. She then realised she had given us the wrong menus. The menus were then changed, and we were then asked to choose from this new menu. The second menu was not as interesting as the first one, however we made our choices. One of the group of 4 then asked if there was Garlic in her choice of food as she is allergic to Garlic. The waitress went into the kitchen to ask the chef. She returned and informed us that EVERYTHING, yes EVERYTHING has Garlic in it. Even the batter that the fish is coated in has Garlic in it! Unbelievable. Obviously we could not stay, so we finished our drinks, and left hungry. There was a Stoney silence from the waitress as we paid for our drink on the way out. We went into the local town, and got takeaway Fish and Chips. Not quite the meal we had planned to celebrate 2 birthdays in the coming week. 3 of the diners live in the village, and have lived there for many years. It is unlikely that we shall return. A VERY UNHAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

"I have not stayed here , but would love to. The service and environment was just perfect for a family Sunday lunch and we had a great time exploring this historic pub. We were in the dungeon which sounded ominous but turned out to be a warm, welcoming ambient room for larger tables if guests. The menu offered a really good selection, very important as some of our party were vegetarian pescatarian. I can recommend hand on heart this is one of the loveliest pub experiences I have had in the UK for as long as I can remember. Shame I only have personal pics . Food drinks: Excellent !"

"My partner and I had the best meal we have had on our holiday in the Uk. The staff were very helpful and polite. We had tea and coffee to finish and the coffee is by far the best since leaving Australia. Highly recommend the Litton for an exceptional experience"

Sunday roast (bef or black) was a real tasty bite with yorkshire puddings, bratkartoffeln, kohl, green bean, cauliflower cheese and gravy. also hot. gloomy were all nice, but the pavlowa was great! would recommend this as a great place to go and good value for money."

"We stopped by this restaurant in Wells for lunch as it was the only option open in the afternoon. As vegetarians, we decided to try the mushroom burgers, which turned out to be simply a large mushroom with salad in a bun. While the bun was nice, it was not exactly what we were expecting in terms of a burger. The food was average, and the restaurant itself was not very clean. The staff were not particularly welcoming, as they mainly spoke to each other and did not inquire about our meal. Overall, the service, atmosphere, and food quality were all rated a 3 out of 5. The price per person was between £10-20. We somewhat recommend this restaurant for vegetarians, as the vegetarian options are clearly labeled on the menu."
"So to put it into context for you, me and me friend are 21 years old and drove over 3 hours to come away and visit the mendips. We decided to go out for dinner and regardless of the “no light policy” walked to the restaurant to have a nice dinner on our final night here. We went inside and instantly everyone seemed to go quiet. We sat down for 10 mins as the waitress walked past us easily 8/10 times passed food to nearby tables as well as drinks. After 15 mins she then looks over and said to me “go up to the bar if you want drinks” and to that I responded “can we get a menu?” To which she once again told me to go up to the bar to get one? We had looked at each other as she’s been taking drinks and food orders as well and bringing them out out the whole entire time but gave us the cold shoulder.. did she hate us because we’re obviously not from around here? Possibly.. will we return? Never."

"This pub is located in the charming village of Beckington and offers a delightful experience. After a long trip, we found the service to be excellent, the food to be of high quality, and the atmosphere to be warm and inviting. The locals we spoke to clearly love their village pub, and it's easy to see why. This inn has a welcoming feel that is rare in today's era of trendy gastropubs. It offers a modern take on the traditional British pub, with great food and ales. The menu changes daily, but everything we tried was prepared and served with care. This is a pub worth returning to time and time again. Service: 5 Location: 5"

"We have just had the most amazing short break staying at this gorgeous hotel. Our room was excellent with a separate bathroom which has a fantastic bath tub! The dinner we enjoyed in the restaurant was cooked and presented to a really high standard and the breakfast the following morning was just WOW. Freshly cooked, served on warm plates and the toast was hot. I don’t know how many times when we have stayed away that we have sent the cold toast back, but not here and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent customer service and all this made our very much needed break away truly memorable. Also just need to add the view of Wells Cathedral from the hotel and bedroom was an added gem Rooms: Our room had an amazing four poster bed and tub bath and walk in shower in the bathroom; lovely fluffy towels. Walkability: A stones throw away from the main shopping street, local market, Cathedral and other pubs and restaurants Food drinks: Great menu for evening meal and breakfast and cooked to perfection Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Luxury, Romantic, Quiet, Great value"

"After having to ask for a cloth to clean my table along with another customer, I sat and waited 35 minutes for a single piece of cheese on toast. 1 piece of bread, sprinkled melted cheese £5.00 I have never been anywhere that thought an acceptable price was 5.00 for a single piece of dry bread with cheese. On a plate. No offer of salt, pepper, sauces etc so had to get up and go find them and overall just a poor place to eat. Terrible customer service. Some of the other food looked fabulous but not worth the prices. My 4 pound blended ice coffee drink was luke warm, and small. There are better places to spend my money in wells and where I won't have to go out and get something else to eat straight after."

"We enjoyed our experience so much that we returned the following week! We made a reservation for my wife's birthday and went with friends. We tried a variety of items from the menu and everyone was pleased. The poutine made my wife very happy, and the vegetarian and vegan options were perfect for our non-meat eater. The Korean burgers and chicken fries were also a hit. The staff were friendly and efficient when taking our orders. The QR code was only available for 3G inside, but it was not a big deal. The beer and wine selection was good, and all four of us left happy. When we needed a quick bite before the movie on a Friday, we decided to stop by without a reservation. Luckily, they were able to find us a table and accommodate us. The food was once again excellent, and the staff were fantastic. It's definitely worth booking ahead, and the prices were comparable to other places. We had a great experience and will definitely be returning. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming even on a busy Friday night."

"This is a hidden gem in Wells. The exterior is very unassuming up a small courtyard, as the name suggests. The inside is lovely spacious, good decor and lots of tables. The menu is not enormous, but plenty on there to tickle my taste buds. Mrs Bald and I shared the salmon and prawn with warm roll starter. A great little offering to start the meal. Mrs Bald then had Sea Bass with prawns and seasonal vegetables and I had gammon steak with chips. The meals were first class. As Goldilocks would say not too big or too small . We shared the chocolate honeycombe cheesecake to finish another superb choice once again. Waitresses were both lovely very busy, but on the ball all evening. I wish this restaurant was closer to home as it would be a firm favourite with both of us."
"Local cider, local pork pie with local chutney with super knowledgable and friendly barman to help make choices.... incl a biscuit for Archie the dog Garden with a view of the church and a whole trough of water for dogs... we had to stay for another round"

"as always great, friendly staff. always like to help. went for a 40th birthday meal and although there was a large group of us, we didn't have to wait long. themselves serve on kartoffels and veg was great as they liked as much as they liked and the puddings. would definitely recommend the Malteaser sun places or the chic fudge cake. also big puddings. a fantastic place to visit. would recommend each time. I am now a couple of places here and not complaining about our visits. well done all who work there"

"Came here with my family when visiting Shepton Mallet for breakfast and it was the best Full English I have ever had.. my wife had the scrambled eggs which was also excellent. We also decided to return a few days later for Lunch. It was very busy and I can see why. Staff were lovely.. we were assisted by Lucy who was extremely kind and helpful, and great with our children (and another kind young lady.. but I cannot recall her name). Thank you, we will hopefully be able to return soon. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"Decor nice and friendly staff. Menu was varied and tempted us to book a table. However, the food was very disappointing. I didn’t want to complain at the time S I was with guests but my food was expensive and not worth the money. I had the roast turkey lunch. The turkey was obviously not carved from a turkey but resembled school dinners with three thin, watery slides all identical in size. There was half a carrot, a teaspoon of red cabbage, three sprouts, three pale and tasteless roast potatoes, a ‘slice’ of tasteless stuffing and watery tasteless gravy. The chipsta sausage was wrapped in undercooked fatty bacon and sausage pale and undercooked. All in all not good. My friends were not that impressed with their food either. We won’t be going back. This pub has the potential to be really good but a new chef is needed! Sorry but this is honest feedback."
