"Joined our group of friends who came here for a carvery on a Saturday night, and they booked again because they really enjoyed the food. Cannot fault the service from start to finish of the staff/owners.. Main restaurant is quite large, chilly but bearable..No atmosphere,it was a...Christmas meal?but wrong type of music.. Food was for course and a coffee/tea..Very good price.. Verdict on food....It was not a carvery!! this year.. Lack of choice, usually when our group go out we get a list to pre order from..So starters we had a choice of soup or pate, the soup everyone that had it enjoyed. Main..Very poor..Was pre sliced bought in meat, served cold on a cold ish plate..Vegetables wasn't frozen variety,so tasty..but between of us wasn't enough.. Only thing when we all started was hot, were potatoes and gravy.. Pudding again choices, Rhubarb crumble or lemon meringue..Not everyone's usual choices, cheesecake or trifle was wanted more..never mind, again crumble was homemade.."

Used the backroom for a family gathering. The pub provided plenty of seating and a very tasty buffet lunch at very reasonable price.

Took my family for Sunday roast today, our first and last visit here. There was no atmosphere to the place. Roast was plentiful and good selection of vegetables. We had an month old baby with us so asked for a high chair for him...and was charged Desserts were each, a bit excessive I feel, especially when one was just a bowl of custard for a year old.

I have been passing by this pub for years without ever going inside, and I have been missing out! The beer was excellent and the food was delicious. We tried one of the daily specials, which was lamb's liver with potatoes and vegetables. The liver was perfectly cooked in a rich onion gravy, and the mashed and roast potatoes, along with the cauli, courgette, cabbage, and carrots, were all cooked perfectly and served steaming hot. The meal deal even included a dessert, and we both left feeling satisfied.

"We've been here a couple of times before and it's been great, however our latest visit was not a great experience. Portions were small, presentation wasn't anything special, looked like meals I could of in nocked up myself as a quick tea at home, nothing special at all, certainly didn't look like a restaurant dining experience. Also, never come across a restaurant that stipulates on the menu if you want steak they need 48 hours notice! And even if they do, they should tell people when they book in as we had 2 of our party very disappointed on the night. The whole dining experience was also ruined by a group of loud, drunk locals sitting in the dining area and talking and swearing at the top of their voices so we couldn't even hear ourselves having a conversation. If people have paid for a dining experience no matter how bad that was, they should not have to put up with a table full of loud, swearing locals who were just there for the drink, keep the two things separate! Really dark and dingy in the restaurant, we struggled to read the menu due to how badly lit it was. The waitress started the evening by telling us what wasn't available off the menu, which in itself seemed odd at the beginning of the weekend to of already run out of so much. Needless to say this one bad experience overshadows previous good ones, it looks like the place has gone down hill, we won't be back! Must say though this is by no means a reflection of the staff they were lovely, it's on the owners!"

"Had a look through some of the lesser positive feedbacks and have to chuckle. Went there for lunch today. It's often very busy and you can't always get a table. The reason a place is busy is because it's good. No one queues for rubbish. Managed to get a table straightaway 11.48) . Pleasantly greeted and pointed to the table. How many places actually take your order nowadays. So refreshing. Order taken and a few minutes later our drinks arrived. No reading a menuboard under pressure. No stacking food on trays like a juggling act, sliding along a rail. No waiting for your drink while your dinner is slowly going cold only to find the person in front has ordered three frappecappychismolatteamerocanos with choc sprinkles and spacedust! I ordered the ploughman's. Three decent chunks of cheese, half baguette, apple, salad, pork pie slice, Coleslaw homemade) chutney, grapes, pickled onions and celery. All excellent except celery, which is spawn of the devil in my opinion) I love a ploughman's and this is right up there with the best. I wanted to try their cake but was too full, so we took a slice home for later. Malteser cake was lovely and obviously home made one slice more than enough for two unless you need your clothes to fit you better) Didn't need an evening meal I hasten to add. Great service, home made food, very reasonably priced. What else do you want? Thoroughly enjoyed it. Very rare nowadays . Thank you."
