"Booked this for Sunday lunch for my sons birthday, what a huge disappointment. On arrival the pub was empty, which should have set alarm bells ringing, at 2.30 on a Sunday it should have been bustling. No smell of Sunday roast to welcome you, very tired and dated with paint peeling off the walls, the land ladies washing on an airer on the patio out to the garden is not a good selling point. We should of turned around and found another place to eat, but we didn't and that was a really big mistake. When our roasts arrived the plate was swimming in gravy and some indescribable white sauce and what looked like a pancake and four large roast potatoes that were neither crisp or brown. I had requested mint sauce for my lamb roast and this arrived in a small kilner jar with the rubber seal hanging off and the metal fastening rusty. Another plate of veg arrived but as there was no room on the plate to put anything else it was hardly touched. No taste to any of the good can't believe we have just paid nearly £45 for such dire food. Would not recommend this pub to anyone and will definitely never go back"

After reading the excellent reviews decided to drive out from Wolverhampton for lunch. Even though the sign said 12-00 at 12-15 there was no sign of life. A workman on the adjacent site banged on the door to no avail, Another car arrived and they tried the door and quickly drove away. Business must be good if at least 6 potential customers can be ignored.

Called in by chance after hearing the pub had changed handsWe received a friendly welcome took a table in the bar area. My burger was excellent my wife's steak pie also got the thumbs up. Both were good sized portions. Beer was good too!However....... some locals came in for a drink started swearing profusely. I realise that the locals beer sales are important to the pub but I wished we had taken a table in the dining areaWe will return though!!

The Owain Glyndwr Society used the pub as a base for the unveiling of a new noticeboard which is next to the pub's beer garden. It was a wet weather day and so everyone was happy that the speeches were given inside next to the log fire. A large number of those attending had enjoyable meals and the unveiling of the noticeboard was toasted with a range of beverages. The pub lies on the border between Staffordshire and Shropshire but is also on an ancient border between England and Wales which has links to the stories of Merlin and Owain Glyndwr. View menu

We were looking for a dog friendly pub where mine and my brother's family could eat out and take our dogs. Telephoned in advance and they were really friendly on the phone.Went to the pub and although it was obviously more of a locals pub it didn't have that uncomfortable feeling you sometimes get when strangers walk in. Ordered food, they even bought drinks to the table, great service. The food was good too, but for the decor, location, and type of pub I thought that the food was overpriced. Don't get me wrong though, I thoroughly enjoyed the mixed grill (my dog did too. No complaints on the food whatsoever, just the price.

Good points Polite Staff, Nice Gravy, Great VegDisappointed in : Meat Roast Beef tasted like been in microwave and not like proper meat, or brought in ready cooked joint maybe, really rubbery and hard to chew rubbish. Debris outside bathrooms, reel of wire, heater or something waiting to be put on wall, health safety risk to children around and elderly customers Dog mess all over lawn which was desperate to be mowed One of Benches with (wheel back feature) is about to break, son lent back on it and it almost broke No instructions of how to order, just left waiting ages menus on table so assumed waiter service wrong have to order at bar Limited real ales unlike description on Website, Garden...

Called in for lunch on Sunday 3rd April. Lovely warm pub with a very welcoming atmosphere. Girl behind the bar was nice and friendly and served us our drinks, opened a tab for us and directed us to the dining room.My wife had the lamb dinner and I had the pork belly draft, both of which were cooked to perfection and complemented with a generous selection of vegetables. Our meals were so filling but we piggishly ordered a chocolate and raspberry tart to share, which was absolutely amazing and it definitely lived up to the chocolate promise. All this was washed down with a couple of glasses of Holden's Golden Glow and a glass of Merlot for SWMBO for around £30. Perfect. Oh, and the young lady... View menu

Having visited this pub a few years ago and had a great meal there thought it would be good to revisit, when we arrived found out it had been taken over by new owners, after ordering out meal, found the starter to be over cooked and hard it not great, I ordered a traditional pub fish and chips, which was supposed to be 12oz it probably was whith the 7oz if hard batter attrached, when I complained about the fish was told the starter would be taken off the bill, that was not the point, the chef who I presume was the owner never came over to see us but was too busy on her phone at the bar, the warning signs should have been ringing with how empty the car park was, definitely will not be back, in t...

Small pub, nicely maintained with a beer garden, lunchtime food time extends until 5pm on Sundays. This is good as another nearby pub, in Enville, stops serving in the daytime soon after 2 pm. Plenty of character inside, in good weather it’s a very pleasant setting to eat out, just remember that there is a dog and chickens which roam, so shut the gate and watch where you are walking ‘just in case’. Food menu is very acceptable with snacks or more substantial meals and we have tried both in past visits. Salad accompanies baguettes and is always freshly made and crispy. Some of the chairs outside were stained with bird droppings, and there was ‘old’ dog mess on the grass area, not a lot but it...
