"This review sums up some visits made since 5th July 2019. It was on my first visit with a lovely friend Rima Bray that the lovely manager donated what turned out to be the best of eighty raffle prizes I collected in SE London a crowd funder for The Hill Station Community Café in nearby Kitto Rd, the prize was a meal for four, I will never forget your generosity for such an important cause. Although the management has changed the chef has not and so far both meals, fish and chips last year followed by Sunday Roast Pork on 23rd Feb 2020 were both so delicious they should be illegal. The roast just blasted my taste buds, the roasted beetroot was a master touch and those roast tatties my all time fave in 61 years. £14 and good value considering the exceptional quality and generous helping. There is always an excellent vegan option. This delightful pub appeals to me on so many levels, even with the fab old fashioned juke box you can actually hear yourself think and talk, this is ideal place to bring your friends for a shared meal or drinks and conversation. Perfect ambience with open fires in the winter, and a fab outdoor front garden terrace for the summer, coupled with lovely staff, customers and a great range of on tap beers at very reasonable prices, what more could you ask for? There are also three nights of activities including Monday Pub Quiz and Thursday Open Mic which from feedback is a wonderful evening. Most positive that there is a large noticeboard which shares events being held in the local community, and the offer of a FREE function room must surely have appeal for clubs and social groups? If you are reading about this fab pub for the first time, do visit, The Telegraph at The Earl of Derby should not remain the best kept secret in Lewisham!"

Recently under new management this friendly pub is well worth a visit as things re-open. The owners are great and the atmosphere is very relaxed. There is a good range of pub classics on the menu.

The pub meals are quality here. We had the steak and bangers and mash. However the friendly atmosphere is what really makes this pub. It's a warm place for an evening meal and a pint. I'd go back without hesitation.

I understand this quintessential pub has been closed for awhile. I was pleasantly surprised as entered into this refurbished pub. The evening was pleasant and atmospheric; staff were approachable served you with a smile Drinks were reasonable. I will definitely visit again.

All in all a good lunch, they catered well for our allergies, the food was generally good although the veg portions are way to small. The service and politeness/friendliness of the staff was very good. We would return although not regularly, unless they are more generous with their veg! View menu

Popped in with family for dinner. Super welcoming -even though we were early doors and kitchen not quite open yet. My little boy said the home made chicken nuggets were the best he had ever had. Will return to check out the different menus like pizza night and fish chips. Lovely warm and friendly local pub.

How lovely to find a proper pub! This lovely victorian building had a front bar a more private back bar and a function room (the local choir were having singing practice. The brass fittings (pumps, foot rails etc. were lovingly polished and there were even pewter mugs hanging over the bar. The bar maid was cheery and welcoming and offered tastings of the beers (some of which I hadn't tried before. The locals were friendly and all obviously welcome the social side of going to their local. It was Tuesday (the only night the kitchen is closed so we missed out tying the food the menu looked great and well priced for London. What a find! We'll be back.

Came in at just after 6 on a Monday. Were the only customers. Ordered food and drink. A family came in with a dog that was constantly barking, ringing throughout the entire pub. Incredibly stressful, for me, and presumably the dog. Still no food an hour later, partner went to get another drink. Then a member of staff came over to apologise for the wait for food and offered us complimentary drinks but as I wasn’t drinking alcohol and still had half of my soft drink, and partner had literally just paid for a new drink for himself, wasn’t much use to us, so we declined. Food arrived about 15 minutes later and was very nice. Family and barking dog still very much in the pub at 7.45 when we left,... View menu

I drink at this pub all the time and have eaten here also a lot. but the meal I had today was out of this world. Stake, Chips, Onion Rings. The stake was cooked to perfection and I just love the onion rings. Have also had the Special Ribs here and they are just delicious. I love this pub and the people that work there as well as Sam and Jay who run it. Keep up the good work and see you soon. Also the Pub has Quiz nights on mondays and a vary good Open mic night every other wednesday (i have even preformed once on open mic) The staff are vary friendly and there is also Free Wifi (just ask at the bar for password). All in all the Pub itself is a little hidden so if you don't know its there its...

Not sure why the reviews on here are so high, we had the Christmas menu and it was terrible in all areas. Food cold when it arrived. Roast potatoes were like cardboard worst i've ever tasted in my life. No one finished theirs. And where was the yorkshire pudding? You definitely put yorkshire pudding in your normal roast dinners, so why not in a christmas turkey option? Then baked beans with roast lamb?! This was definitely not listed in the menu before we pre ordered! Especially when it's £25 for the meal! A friend had also found plastic in their food and the staff was very dissmissive. No apology given! They missed out a few people when serving the desserts and we had to wait even longer fo...

"Me and my flatmates went to Naifs to celebrate one of our own's MA degree with a nice meal, and we are so glad that we did. Anne and the team were incredibly personable and friendly, which really stood out to us. As somebody who has worked many years in hospitality, one can tell that there is clearly a very tight-knit team at work here who does what they do out of and with love. We really enjoyed the concluding chat with the kitchen team about the amazingly delicious olive oil they served us with the bread it comes straight from the chef's uncle's olive plantation! The atmosphere was really lovely as well, and a lot of thought clearly went into it: there were lots of candles, soft light, beautiful serving plates. We found the decor very tasteful in general: the restaurant has a cozy, but elevated bistro feel to it which makes it the perfect place for a broad variety of occasions. We had the set menu, which at 27 GBP came at very good value. The menu really demonstrated just how colorful vegan and vegetarian spreads can be: the colors on the table alone were such a delight to behold! Needless to say it also all tasted amazing. We particularly liked the mushrooms in lemony broth, the dhal and the aubergine stew. Every dish had a creative spin on it that made it into something we had never tasted in that way before. The wine that was recommended to us was very nice as well. We finished our meal with a selection of British cheeses, which was very well put together. Naifs focuses on seasonal and regional ingedrients, which is another factor that really convinced us, and which is something that more restaurants should focus on. Whether you're a veggie or not: if you want to dine at an all around truly special place, you need to try Naifs. Keep up the awesome work, guys we will be back very, very soon."
