"This review and experience is written off the back of another visit with other family members last year. Both have now been underwhelming. Given the current challenges for the hospitality sector you like to give places a second chance, but sadly customer service fell over big time and when combined with last years experience I will not be spending my hard earned cash here again. When you have a lunchtime time offer and members of a large family group are obviously ordering with that in mind; if you have the same meals on the menu not within the offer it is clearly the duty of the staff to seek clarification and ask what option is being utilised! If I had not been at a family event I would have strongly argued the point with the manager, but sadly I did not want to spoil the atmosphere. If the manager argues differently in response to this review he/she will just be proving my point! The food is very average and although I am sure all staff are trying hard and others may have better experiences, I will not be giving the Three Horse Shoes a third opportunity to get it right."

Loved it! It was a great place to go for Sunday lunch! The atmosphere was calming and the interior was beautiful. We managed to get a lovely circle table and get quite a few people around it!

A very welcoming country pub just a short distance from the A36. The menu is diverse and the food fresh and delicious. I had the halloumi fries followed by a burger with herb seasoned chips it was all fantastic.

Service was appalling we were mopping up spilt coffee and the staff member just watched without offering any help/towels/ interest The food when it arrived was poor the roast was accompanied by veg that was clearly heated up from frozen (or if it wasn't it was spectacularly badly cooked). The pie had next to no filling much like a packet of Walkers crisps We have been to this pub on many occasions but will not darken their doorstep again

I was here for Christmas. just a word....amazing! I can't harm the extraordinary service or the delicious eating. every single mouthful was amazing. I didn't enjoy a meal so much for a while. perfect and creative accents. the aromen stayed in my mouth well after the meal. very well balanced meal, attentive service and fantastic atmosphere. what a great evening in a wonderful environment. we plan to go back soon! many thanks to all the wonderful staff.

We were a party of 20 for a post Xmas get together. We pre ordered the food and had sole use of the upstairs area. The food arrived without delay and more importantly, got to us at the same time, no-one was left waiting for theirs. The quality of the food was excellent and the attentiveness of the staff could'nt be faulted. We were able to order sweets on the night and all drinks were brought to the table. Would have given 6 stars if the extra one was available!

Quite slow service from the kitchen although the pub wasn't really busy. Starters of veggie soup garlic mushrooms were excellent, well presented tasty. Mains courses I ordered cod mornay but got cod chips .I ate it as didn't want to wait for correct meal. The cod inside the batter was overcooked and very dry Husband ordered pie but was to full to eat it had it put in a box to take home however I forgot it ,went back about 15-20minutes later it had been binned, which waste of a tasty looking pie

one of the best Christmas dinner experiences I ever had. from the beginning, the whole experience was brilliant from the personal to the chefs who make our incredible meal. the menu was so incredibly tasty, the aromen were from this world. the food was fresh, refined and cooked for perfection. service was first class and staff very helpful and friendly. thanks to the chef, who rooted on his feet and the wonderful kitchen staff. (P.s I was first disturbed by some negative reviews on google, but so glad I didn't take them into account. that is definitiw the big league) would definitely go back.

what a fantastic culinary experience! we often visited the restaurant in the past and we decided to come back to dinner Saturday and we were all blown away. the service was perfect from start to end with strong love to detail. the food was above our expectations, fresh, presentation, taste, temperature etc. were all top class. that halloumi it is a strange combination, but amazing taste, steak perfectly cooked with a lot of taste and the huh with nuts and seeds crust it was spectacular. unfortunately we only give 4 stars due to the lack of consistency. I think the cook has to train the staff more, eating is not the same every time. will definitely return and would highly recommend. Thank you...

all about our experience was 5 stars! we arrived a bit earlier and got a bigger table that was better for the talk, except good eating this was the reason for 4 of us to go to dinner! the burgers were excellent! the cake of the day, huh and spicy chorizo, was loaded as they cut into it. the black bell with black pudding polnta and lobster bisque was tree....mendous! .and the rosmarin and garlic frying were something else. mund water just write that! the deserts were more than abundant and a taste explosion. the waiter, wants was brilliant. he was so attentive, without being overlaid, as some may be. he knew the food to explain exactly with them 'd get and was on site to discuss the deserts....

"The best thing about our experience was the telephone booking for a special lunch. Lovely, friendly, helpful person who noted that it was my wife’s 50th and would pass this on so the staff could ensure that this would be a great and memorable occasion.Lovely day, the sun shining, and the setting glorious – but the moment we entered, things were not as anticipated – a “matter of fact” greeting, perhaps acceptable in an ordinary 3 star hotel, but little warmth – a vague, “who are you?” from the maître d’ on entering the restaurant, as if we were intruding on their comfortably empty dining room and they would be called to work – and a rather “take it or leave it” from the waitress, though we did get an embarrassed smile on one occasion – the only smile we received all lunchtime. The menu was rather unexciting – I ought to have looked on line first Very little range, though lunches probably don’t have a resident chef at that time of day, so that might limit the available options: baguette, beetroot tartare with rice, burger, black bean burger, fish and chips tarted up with “Iford cider”, tagliatelle, a gnocchi, sirloin steak, and a “superfood salad” with choice between chicken breast, smoked salmon, and tofu. We opted for the latter, one chicken, two salmon, and added 3 extra sides (great idea with us choosing pork belly, polenta chips and gougère. Having taken our order we were told, “sorry, there’s no gougère,” so we chose the “crispy calamari” instead. For drinks we chose the local Kettlesmith beer, which I enjoy anyway, and an alcohol free Pink Negroni. The latter arrived and was so alcoholic it could well have made our driver fail a breath test on the spot – maybe that was why we were billed £11.50 for the replacement, an unadorned, ungarnished glass, mainly of ice cubes that rapidly melted into a warm alcohol-free wishy-washy liquid I suppose we should not have expected too much of an alcohol free cocktail, normally of gin and vermouth .. but what was quite unacceptable was that the thin strip of orange peel that had enhanced the original, probably quite lovely cocktail, was absent and no one had bothered to replace it, not even with a sprig of mint!Well, maybe the food might make up for it? No such luck. The attractive, large ceramic bowls were generously filled with a range of leaves, but the kale, hard and chewy as kale at the end of a hard winter, (or a mature chard) failed in a desperate attempt to masquerade as tender. The chicken dumped atop was bland, with any taste poached out of it, and the salmon was just ordinary farm-bred, cheap supermarket salmon. I loved the pork belly – could have had a full plate of that! – but the polenta chips were pretty mushy under a tasteless crumbly, far from crispy cover, and the replaced calamari a disaster – far from “Crispy”, they drooped into a bowl, batter hanging off, and the cooking oil that welled at the bowl apex typified the lacklustre attention of the kitchen, examples of whom waddled in and out with shoulder-burdened posture and bored, inattentive facial expressions that seemed to typify the rest of the on duty staff on what should have been a happy celebrative half-a-century birthday – an occasion that not one member of staff had even bothered to acknowledge! The setting is a typical local Jacobean building with Victorian additions and a lovely green countryside overview. The garden has a few choice plants, shrubs and trees but could have been cared for more attentively. The view from the restaurant needed more care and a bit of back-bending weeding. The restaurant was tired and disappointing, but the architecture holding up the ceiling glass was imaginative and the lighting, if needed, would have been exciting. Perhaps the brown-edged, ailing leaves on the table and wall plant decorations were typical of this establishment’s attitude to making what should have been a joyful occasion into one that made us never, ever want to grace it with our presence again."
