"Absolutely dreadful experience. The serving spoon was burning hot under veg lights as veg was at the rear. Got terrible burn. It has given me a large blister. But worse is the attitude of the staff! When I was in distress asking for ice no one cared! It took 5 minutes of skin burning before somrone brought me a bucket of cold water. By now the damage had been done. Where was my apology? Where was the manager? Where was the legally required Accident book? Where was the First Aider? No one took my details. All I got was looks from ignorant staff . Only after half an hour did one girl approach with a burn plaster/gel. If this had been more serious I dread to think of the consequences! This is absolutely despicable from a Toby!"

Unfortunately, the meat we received was very fatty, and the roast potatoes were quite hard. It's such a disappointment, especially since this is usually my mum's favorite restaurant. She is 83 years old, and we took her there as a special treat.

Our waitress was polite and friendly but the food was really sub standard. Yorkshire's were dry, mash was grey, peas dried out, cauli over cooked and everything was Luke warm. All sauces except mini sauce were empty but the surface was clean so someone had checked it recently!

we are members of the same family who try to go together to the harlow toby about once a month, and this visit was like most others we have experienced. overall, eating was good, although some of the sweet would have been hotter if they had been covered while there was no one in the waiting queue, and to this one time my roast pork was very dry. Overall, however, we were satisfied with our meal and think it is quite favorable.

Having visited this restaurant many times and found it to be good value and welcoming I was disappointed to visit yesterday and find poor food and very slow service. The waitress was not at fault, she was running around doing the best she could, it seemed they were understaffed. When we went up for our food there were several dishes of shrivelled up, dried out vegetables and the meat was adequate but not much of it. Really disappointing.

I reserved two tables for five since the system wouldn’t allow me to book a larger table. I stopped by this morning to see if we could sit together because it was my dad's birthday. Unfortunately, we couldn’t all sit close to each other, and I was disappointed that we had to separate into two tables. The potatoes were tough, the stuffing had a texture like cement, and the sauce was as thick as wallpaper paste. Overall, I was very disappointed with the experience.

On the bright side, there are plenty of vegetables, and they're quite good. The waitstaff are friendly, which somewhat makes up for the inexperienced carvers handling the meat. This is a carvery, and it seems they’re trying to squeeze every last sliver from the bone. When we visited, everyone in line shared the same feeling, and when a particular young carver emerged from the kitchen, there was an audible gasp. Apparently, he’s known for his knife skills! That said, watching these folks attempt to carve slices of gammon is quite an entertaining part of the experience. Give it a try; it's not that bad, and they always seem to be busy.
