"we made an unplanned visit due to non availability of tables in other restaurants. i had passed this place many times but i thought it was a bar. on going inside it was busy and thought we would be turned away but we were told...to have a drink and wait a few minutes and after a few minutes we were seated.service was good and the waiter spoke english, though he did forget one of our starters and the mayonaise (which you have to pay for!!! and the food was very good. a meat packed goulash soup served piping hot was followed by a four steak special platter with beef, pork and chicken steaks each marinated differently and finally apple strudel and ice cream. a bargain at the price. i am sure we will be back"

Charming place with some communal tables upstairs. It was rather a busy night, and the service very spotty. But once you get their attention, it's OK...

Pleasant and friendly service from staff. Very funny and could also very well deal with joke and sarcasm. We felt comfortable all around. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner

good typical German eating, large portions, in a rustic environment. the restaurant is proud of its traditional cozy atmosphere and is located in the former house of the medieval city tower (so the name). we had the gypsy spitzel, a large panted pork steak with a delicious sauce of red paprika. reasonable prices.

we have eaten there and had the fish dish, the four-meat dish and the wine carving. it was all very, very good. we sat at the bar around the fountain, because these were the only places and enjoyed every minute. the portions were very large and very well made. I tried to return, but had no reservation and could not get in. View menu

we have eaten here 3 years ago and remembered the good value for money and the friendly service. eating is still in order if they can handle a possible overdose fat. When we arrived, we were told that all the tables were reserved in the inner. we could try to find ourselves in the garden. most tables outside were also reserved. the worst is that smoking is allowed in the garden and later people who have eaten inside came out to smoke. the service at the table was friendly and efficient, but we did not feel welcome.

I said the waitress that I was vegetarian and she brought me a very disgusting combination of melted cheese on salad leaves. have they already tried this combination of ingredients? well, it tastes as bad as it sounds. when I told her that it was disgusting, she just said "I'm sorry" and was not looking forward to fixing the situation. she went right away. the fish my partner had ordered seemed frozen, as he did not have the texture of fresh fish. but good, this was at least edible. I left the place extremely frustrated by the attention of the service and hungry. never again!

"hidden in the city wall is this rustic restaurant in stralsund. in the entrance area welcome trembling the courageous gast, candlesticks just illuminate such a walk with old wooden beams that leads into the tummy gast house. medieval music accompany one on the way to the table. There, you will receive from a stylishly dressed slender maid and immediately receive a trough with fresh water to wash the hands - because you definitely need it.The card is clear, the prices are very favorable. who asks how to offer so cheap blackshaxen and consorts, receives the answer immediately after the order. because the view into the open kitchen reveals that everything is frozen, which is only warmed up in many times. but: 1. Who tells me that in more expensive restaurants behind closed kitchen doors isn't that? and 2. damned, it still tastes! The whole atmosphere is harmonious, the personal makes with guests and among themselves jokes and one thinks: "It could have happened a few hundred years ago." Eating is then served on a wooden tray - to cut you get an en dolch. the fork is in vain. The freshly washed hands are available for this.As a drink you can even be rich for a fair price a cup met.Everything really recommended for people who appreciate the medieval tafeley and have no pleasure or opportunity to join a large group. This is usually the basic requirement for such food. Here you sit like normal in the restaurant - only that everything is medieval."
