"It was noon on a cloudless sunny day, all tables occupied both indoors and out, yet when we asked for a parasol, there weren't any. Later we could change our table to a shady place. After ordering and receiving our drinks, we two couples) waited 15 more minutes and asked for the bread basket. When it came, it had three thin slices of bread for four adults, all of us extremely genetic luck) slender--BMI 19 or less. I asked jokingly if bread was rationed and the waitress replied yes it was, it only came with the salad. We had ordered full meals, but not the salad, as it was CHF 9.50 each. $10.65). She asked what the problem was, and I had the painful experience of having to spell out that we were four adults but she had brought only three pieces of bread. She cheerfully brought a fourth piece of bread, saying now we needn't share. The table next to us received their meals, plates piled high with french fries in addition to the meat and vegetables. The two people at our table who love french fries commented on the large portions and said at least they're generous with the fries, unlike the bread. When our meals came, both people who had ordered fries received tiny portions, a half-handful of fries each, despite having ordered exactly the same items as the table next to us--schweinsteak Cafe de Paris, frites and gemuse. They also weren't overly generous with the cooked vegetables--a single round slice each of zucchini, carrot, and a tiny spoonful of cauliflower. We saw a couple being served their Coupe Danemarks--five centimeters of chocolate syrup at the bottom of the glass, a mountain of whipped cream on top. Three of us ordered the Coupe Danemarks and got NO chocolate syrup on the bottom of the glass and a small strip of whipped cream on top--it didn't even cover the ice cream. For four people, including coffee and dessert, we paid 168 CHF $188) and came away with the feeling someone in the kitchen didn't like us. We won't go back. The waitresses were excellent, extremely busy but very cheerful. But I disliked having to explain to one that three pieces of bread for four people is inadequate, and did not have the will or courage to complain about the tiny portions of french fries and whipped cream on a coupe, when apparently everyone around us was receiving twice the amount."

A pearl in the small Swiss village! Excellent quality: very fine food, great service, beautiful environment! Very recommended. Not far from Bern and wonderful for a dinner / weekend gate!

first there is the overwhelming view of the berner alpen: it is only worth driving to rüeggisberg. you should not eat too much in the restaurant, so that there is still something appetit for the peak-patis series of rolf mürner. the only drop of the worries: on Sunday, too little was there, so you had to buy very long waiting times.

the viva bistro is a great enrichment for rüeggisberg and the surroundings. kreatiw and brave to put such a restaurant. the construction itself is a challenge and difficult to bring something atmosphere into the restaurant. that does not succeed entirely. it remains a bit queer - unfortunately. because the service is extremely friendly and the offered food and drinks are carefully made and selected.

after a small hike we arrived hungry in viva. the reception was friendly, the card was immediately brought to us. there are several menues to choose from at lunchtime. both the vegi, as the meat menue was very good. before there is suppe and salat. to dessert it is possible to purchase one of the wonderful creations of rolf mürner at swiss pastry right next door. the view is unique, the service friendly, the eating very well. we are very happy to come back.

Great view. This is the only positive thing I can say about this place. I've been planning on taking my pastor-loving mother here for a while. I had really heard good things about the quality of the pastry. So it was with great anticipation that we just arrived in time for lunch. When we took our seats, we immediately approached and ordered our drinks. After this was delivered, we waited 40 minutes without ever being addressed again. Customers arriving after us, where given menus and must order. Me and my mother, where completely ignored. My German, although not perfect, is pretty good, so I can exclude a misunderstanding.

We made the special trip to this restaurant as my 85-year-old mother spent a lot of her childhood in the Bernese Oberland. We were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant, they have wonderful fitness plates with a wide selection of salads and then selection of meat or fish as well as a selection of daily menus. Service was excellent and prices very reasonable. Obviously you come here also for the amazing view and on a clear day you can see the eiger, monk and virgin. Unfortunately there were a few clouds, so we could only see how they bump out of the top. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. And while you dive into the Swiss Pastry Shop.

To start, the view is worth going here. From the terrace, the view is one of the best in the world. Just stunning. We were skeptical that a place with such great scenery would slack on food, but we were in for a wonderful surprise. The waitress was so nice and helpful as we struggled to read the menu in German (my husband and I know very little). We were able to get through with her help including wine recommendations. At this point we knew that we would at least walk away having had great service. Then the food... my husband and I each got pork but different preparations. We both cleaned our plates. And after three weeks in Europe, this was still my husband's favorite meal. We could not be...

My wife and I had lunch at the Viva Bistro on Monday 14.12.2015. It was a gorgeous day (see attached images . The restaurant is a modern building featuring large panoramic windows which allow a beautiful view towards the Alps. Soon after we arrived, the place grew busy and the only waitress available initially, seemed a little flustered and in a rush to take our orders. Delivery was fine though. My wife ordered menu #2: potato soup, green salad, Ravioli Ricotta with lemon on white wine sauce and shredded cheese (CHF18.50 . I selected menu #1: potato soup, Beef Stroganoff on butter pasta, vegetables (CHF18.50 . With it we had white wine. Our dishes were well presented and tasted absolutely de...
